My 2002 Eddie bauer 2x2 Expedition has 126000 miles on it and recently had the spark plugs and coil replaced which costs a lot of money. A day after I picked it up from the dealership. The engine died after doing a sudden stop. tried re-starting and won't start. Called AAA for towing but car re-started even before the tow truck company showed. They told me that it could be the fuel pump and that it mightstop again if I drive the car after 2 miles. I opted for it to be towed to the nearest mechanic and was told that evetrything looks good on it. Well, my car stopped again yesterday and re-started after 30 minutes. Can somebody tell what is wrong?

What about it ? PATS - passive anti-theft system . There is nothing that you will be able to do > Have it towed to the ford dealer or have a locksmith come by . These ford PATS system need special tools to diagnose them . If someone were to mess with it , not knowing ,well it could make your vehicle useless . Or cost you a lot of money . So do yourself an take it the dealer .

Sounds like you have a sensor going or has gone, if you can limp it to autozone or oreilly's or even check with your local community college and see if they have a vocational auto repair program, if the engine management is ok, IE the brain box, you should be able get the error codes with a code scanner and go from there, ok?

Very much doubt it's related, but sounds like another coil pack has died, shuddering is likely brakes!!

Throttle body bore and plates may be carbon coated . TPS may be getting old and have dead spots at and near idle position .

I'm assuming its petrol as you mention spark plugs. When you say it feels like your going over pot holes again I assume you mean he engine is misfiring? And it's not a steering problem? Firstly I would check the work done on your inlet, If you have any form of leak within your inlet system you will experience loss of power and potential misfiring, you may also hear an induction noise or whistle if there is a leak. Secondly you need to see if its an ignition or fuel problem, it may be easier to conduct a minor service, replace spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter. Unfortunately with the symptoms you have given it could be a whole host of things, fuel pump, ecu! Sorry for being vague.

Have you replaced the two piece spark plugs, that
will break apart when you try & remove them?

You only go 60,000 or so on a set of plugs

At 100,000 miles you replace the front 2 O2 Sensors

Clean MAF Sensor a couple times a year

You have OBD2 Check Lights on,so you should
have checked for codes before coming here.

I would guess you have a bad COP Ignition Coil,
possibly
You will get one a year from now on ,with all ford
products from 1998 on

70 MPH doesn't leave any room to save yourself ,should
things go wrong on the road or if your truck suddenly
shuts off & they do

a spark plug may have stripped out and popped out of the cylinder head. Ford dealers are making lots of money fixing this common problem.

are you getting any jerks/shutter while driving??If so, try replacing all 8 coils. They're pricey ($28-65 each), I have an 03 Expedition FX4 w/5.4L and it used to ****/shutter around 50-65mph and then just die. Restarts and its fine, then dies randomly again!! Replaced all spark plugs, all 8 coils runs great!!

I would suggest all if they have never been replaced before. If you do one replacement at a time then you'll know what the cause was

remove the coil from each cylinder,remove sparkplug,reinstall coil and wire.
