Right the steeper motor is playing up which is why the engine is taking a long time to drop RPM as for teh clutch its auto adjust so if clutch worn then renew it ,clutch life depends on the driver so i can get 150.000kms out of a clutch and one of my customers only gets less than 20,000kms out of a clutch as he pulls away in second and slips clutch when changing gears ,i cringe when i hear him driving past the yard

I think I have the same problem on my 2004 Elantra 56kMiles I just got. Its not the Cable nor the Pedal. I disconnected the cable and started the engine and reved it up manually on the throttle shaft. It just seams to be slow in coming down with the RPMs, like the computer would give a second boost to keep the RPMs up for a view more milliseconds. I checked the TPS and seams to be OK (0.9-2.0kOhm). I am driving manual transmissions for the last 38 years.

Revs high when i change gear

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.

Is it normal for the revs to stay up when changing gear in a 2002 4x4 3.0L turbo diesel navara?

do they revs drop off when taking pressure off accelerator pedal when out of gear? if only staying high during gear change it would suggest a worn clutch friction/pressure plate so the engine isn't slowing down when clutch is depressed .I'd also have the OBD codes read to see if there is a sensor/switch at fault , but sounds like the clutch to me

Clutch pedal to floor on mini cooper

havent worked on one of these as yet so i dont know if its a cable or hydraulic ,either way you will have take it to a garage, put car in gear first and then start engine and the car will move as you start it in gear ,its easy to drive with no clutch just change the gears from getting the RPM right ,ease up on the throttle with one finger behind the stick and it come out of gear then rev angine a bit and as the engine RPM and road speed is correct it will go into gear smoothly .How do think you drove a decent truck like a seddon atkinson with no syncromesh on any gear ,showing my age here

I have a 2003 mazda rx8 its a manuel anyway il be driving in 5th gear and il put my foot down and the rev needle will shoot up and then drop back down while my speed

Yes it is the clutch slipping, in high gear the greatest load is put on the clutch so that is when they slip the most.

Vw polo maintains engine revs when foot is off the accelerator.

You need to check the cable the runs from the gas pedal to the engine, it might be rusty and need some drops of penetrating oil at the point it meets with the engine accelerator valve.

Engine over-run between gears

This is a very common problem for ford. I have the same thing every day. It is the computer not reading the temp. When it does that just tap the gas pedal.

94 tauras AT once warmed up trans will drop out gear at a stop

This is a common problem. You have a cracked forward clutch piston. Ford made this part out of aluminum. The replacements are steel. But you have to disassemble the transmission to install it. ( I know you said Rev too, In the AXODE trans, the forward clutch is on in 1st and reverse)

Grinding sound on pressing clutch in at high revs

The grinding sound may be a throw out bearing or the pilot bearing. The sticking throttle problem sounds like a linkage or cable binding up from possibly damage due to the impact from the accident.
