I have a 2002 ford mustang gt.. Replaced the clutch bout 3 months ago.. New flywheel throwout bearing.. The whole works. Even purchased a clutch adjuster kit with firewall adjuster.. Car rides good and shifts good just a few minor problems or questions rather.. If i tighten the clutch i get a squeeking noise from the throwout bearing? why? and also when i turn the air conditioner on the throwout bearing rattles? is this ordinary or whats the deal? the car drives fine and everything is brand new under there.

Well it sounds like you have a the vacum for the four weel drive is trying to engage when it is in nutrial and that is where the noise is comeing from. I just think the person you took it to is just trying to make some money off of you

I have had both of these situations happen to me and they are completely unrelated.

The Rattle: If you have the factory wheels with the olds center caps, take them off. My husband tightened every screw on the car until he took the center caps off my wheels, and lo and behold, NO MORE RATTLE.

The Hard Starting: If you notice it starts hard and the RPMs are high, your throttle cable is sticking. I have this exact same problem with my 99 Intrigue GLS. The only way I can get it to quit is start and restart the car until it quits. Obviously not the best solution, but I would check your cable first before trying anything else.

The symptoms of a bad throwout bearing is a horrible noise that ONLY occurs when you are pressing on the clutch. And/or you have no clutch action at all - the car is either in gear or it's in neutral. Sounds just like your situation alright.

Usually bad throwout bearings damage pressure plate fingers to the point that they need replacing too. And while they are in there, they will want to replace the clutch disk too. And then lathe the flywheel flat again so that they don't have a repeat customer complaining about the lousy clutch $job$ he just got. Flat flywheels supposedly won't chatter on take off or clutch engagement, but it could be hose job where you get soaked as well.

I went this route once on a gremlin - $500. The only reason I paid up was that I had a real good job at the time, and then I've never been back either.

ON A 2000 MAX 6 CYLINDER HAS CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND SLAVE CYLINDER, CHECK FLUID LEVEL AND BLEED CLUTCH SYSTEM AT SLAVE CYLINDER BLEEDER. HAVE NOT HEAR OF CABLE CLUTCH SYSTEM. ONLY HYDO.& LINKAGE. GOOD LUCK
