I have a 2002 ford mustang gt.. Replaced the clutch bout 3 months ago.. New flywheel throwout bearing.. The whole works. Even purchased a clutch adjuster kit with firewall adjuster.. Car rides good and shifts good just a few minor problems or questions rather.. If i tighten the clutch i get a squeeking noise from the throwout bearing? why? and also when i turn the air conditioner on the throwout bearing rattles? is this ordinary or whats the deal? the car drives fine and everything is brand new under there.

The cutch pedal should have about an inch of free play before contacting the pressure plate. otherwise throw out bearing will run continuously . It wont last long. Adjust at firewall for 1 inch of free play at the top of pedal stroke.

SOURCE: starts hard and rattle noise under car

I have had both of these situations happen to me and they are completely unrelated.

The Rattle: If you have the factory wheels with the olds center caps, take them off. My husband tightened every screw on the car until he took the center caps off my wheels, and lo and behold, NO MORE RATTLE.

The Hard Starting: If you notice it starts hard and the RPMs are high, your throttle cable is sticking. I have this exact same problem with my 99 Intrigue GLS. The only way I can get it to quit is start and restart the car until it quits. Obviously not the best solution, but I would check your cable first before trying anything else.

SOURCE: 87 suzuki samurai - What are the symtoms of a bad

The symptoms of a bad throwout bearing is a horrible noise that ONLY occurs when you are pressing on the clutch. And/or you have no clutch action at all - the car is either in gear or it's in neutral. Sounds just like your situation alright.

Usually bad throwout bearings damage pressure plate fingers to the point that they need replacing too. And while they are in there, they will want to replace the clutch disk too. And then lathe the flywheel flat again so that they don't have a repeat customer complaining about the lousy clutch $job$ he just got. Flat flywheels supposedly won't chatter on take off or clutch engagement, but it could be hose job where you get soaked as well.

I went this route once on a gremlin - $500. The only reason I paid up was that I had a real good job at the time, and then I've never been back either.

Ford mustang clutch

did you pack the thrust bearing with grease before fitting. its always best to pack with grease before fitting. as new bearing only come with a small amount for testing the bearing, pack grease into the bearing and spin it do this fa few times and wipe away the excess off before fitting.

Throwout bearing repair

Well, the gearbox has to come off. The bearing probably needs replacement rather than repair. Unless the clutch is very new, you may as well replace it too, and the pressure plate. Examine the throwout fork very closely for cracks, as they can fail that way.

Change throwout bearing 2002 ford mustang gt 4.6 litte

The throw out bearing slides on a collar behind the input shaft on the front of the transmission inside the bell housing.
It will require removal of the drive shaft, shifter handle, transmission, & clutch cable to gain access to it.
Recomend having this done by a professional.

I replaced clutch master and slave. I even had the flywheel shaved.. now i cant get it into gear when started.

when you had the flywheels shaved it may have moved the pressure plate fingers to far from the throwout bearing

Clutch replaced but now there is a vibration and slippage when starting

when you replaced the clutch did you have the flywheel machined. and i presume you installed a new throwout bearing as well.

My manual engine in my a4 is blown up and i can buy a automatic one will my manual gear box fit

You will need to install your old flywheel on the new motor, automatics have a sheetmetal disc that connects the torque converter to the engine. As long as you are doing that change the rear crankshaft seal since it's right there. Likewise check out your clutch and throwout bearing while the whole thing is apart.
Other than that and a few extraneous clutch-related things the swap will work OK
