I blew the cigarette lighter fuse in my 2003 Pontiac Grand Am while blowing up a toy with air. I pulled the fuse cover and can't figure which one is for the cigarette lighter. What would it say besides cigarette lighter?

The fuse for the cigarette lighter in in a convenience center panel under the hood. Look on the drivers side under the hood for a black box. Unscrew the lid. There is a fuse map. Most likely the fuse for the cigarette lighter is a yellow 20 amp type mini blade fuse.

It would most likely say accessory fuse or courtesy.

1991 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I need the fuse box diagrams please. I bought the car used and it didn't come with any of the covers.

Question edited for clarity.

If all of those are blown, you are in for a whole lot of heartache! Cigarette lighter overloaded, easy fix. Blower motor, probably the resistor, fairly easy fix if you can get to it. Windows, relays, or if only on drivers side, broken wires where door meets frame.

Cigarette lighter assembly not working

There is a special tool for removing the cigarette lighter.Usually only the dealers and tool guys will have this tool.If you remove the element you will see 2 slots across from each other. The tool goes into these slots and the lighter pulls out. What you can do is disconnect the cigarette lighter and if the fuse does not blow then you know for sure the element is the problem.See if you can insert something in the slots to disengage the lighter assembly and try to remove it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

The cigarett lighter outlets do not work.

Most likely you have something metallic that entered/fell inside one of the cigarette lighters.

I once found a dime inside a cigarette lighter which my children assured me was placed there by a shadowy personage named "Notme". Go figure.

While the fuse is REMOVED, look inside each lighter with a flashlight and remove the foreign material.

If you find nothing inside the lighters, disconnect them all from the electrical system by removing the single wire attached to the rear of the lighters. Replace the fuse.

Alternately, you can disconnect them one at a time, replacing the fuse after each one. You may need a few fuses for this.

If the fuse blows after ALL the lighters are disconnected, you have a wiring short circuit which is best diagnosed by a professional.

If the fuse does not blow, begin reconnecting the lighters until you see a spark, or the fuse blows again. This is the faulty lighter, replace it and your problem is solved.

Note: You cannot get shocked or electrocuted by your car's 12 Volt system but you can be burned by heavy sparking. You can reduce the risk of heavy sparking by using a lower-rated fuse during the testing. Wear saftey goggles and latex gloves for safety.

Good luck

Cigarette lighter not working properly in Pontiac...

This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..
