Oil sending sensor could be bad. I know a few different type of cars have trouble with the oil sending unit. They all pretty much do the same thing, "oil light comes on at idle and goes off as you drive". But on the other hand it could be a little more serious.

Jaguar xjs 1995 v12 engine lack of power

I would start with a tune up, then isolate any symptoms other than lack of power if it persists, like rough idle, sputtering, jerking, engine trouble codes, etc.

Red oil light comes on intermittantly as does the

Assuming these readings are false, I have asimilar problem in my 540 which tells me allt the exterior bulbs are not working. The bulb sensor is faulty so I think you are safe in your assumption although the oil light showing would scare me, false or not. I suggest you get a service agent to cast his/her eyes over that one.

1989 XJS V12 furl problem

Obviously, fuel and oil should never be in the same spot at the same time. You have a dead cylinder and maybe a stuck-open injector. The black smoke is from a too-rich fuel mix, so the cheap things to look for are in the fuel injection system. Look at the fuel pressure regulator as well. Good luck, and don't forget to relieve the fuel pressure before you do any work on fuel inj. engines!
