Wheres the vacuum hose on a 1990 plymouth voyager? i think i have a vacuum leak, car drives fine but occasionally starts idling rough at a stop, it will slowly die on its own but if i press on the gas it dies almost instantly. heard if it isnt a vacuum leak to check the hose connected to the MAP sensor...where might i find that as well?

You need to get the Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle so you have a diagram of the vacum lines attached to your vehicle and where each connects. There is more than one Vacum line.

Vacuume leak is very probabe, check vacuum hoses for leaks, gasket leak at intake manifold or throttle body etc. I like to use starting fluid and spray around a bit. If you spray it on a vacuum leak, your rpms will noticably go up.
Sounds like possible vacuum leak. Next time it starts try spraying starting fluid around vacuum hoses, if engine speeds up, there is a vacuum leak at that point where you sprayed. Hope this helps.
If it restarts then its due to a vacuum leak or low idle, try cleaning the throtlebody, use some throlebody cleaner and a tothbrush, open the throtle plate and clean the front and back and the housing, if it still stalls look for any vacuum leaks, you will hear a hisssing noise but check the lines for cracks, if all looks good then i would replace the iac valve which is called the idle air control valve start with these things first. hope this helps.
Use a length of rubber hose to listen around for the leak. Or use some brakeclean or starting fluid to see where the leak is by it reving up. (stay away from the alternator). Pinch off any vacuum hoses, one at a time, looking for one that makes a difference.
try this procedure it will help wit the idle, don't know about the overdrive issue. Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
I'm pretty sure you would have service engine light on if you had vacuum leak! any how these cars are usually pretty good solid air hoses etc!if you have eng light OBD 2 scan for fault codes don't play the ge$$ing game!don't worry if you have idle problem that engine light will soon appear then scan if you do have air leak you will hear a whistle sound listen closely but keep in mind 10 switches can cause rough idle!air vent stuck open locate the intake park some times rodents make nests!!!seen it before or perhaps cable jumped off?linkage good places to start hope this helped
