Here is the belt routing for the V6 Taurus. Basically the belt zigzags between adjacent pulleys, the back of the belt on the smooth pulleys and the inside on the grooved ones. Tension the belt so that you can twist the belt 90 deg on its longest run without too much force. Hopefully this helps you.
You normally can find the diagram on a sticker on the underside of the hood directly above the alternator on a 3.0 OHV motor 2002 Ford Taurus. I copied one from the Internet and taped it above the headlight on my car so it was easier to view and use.
