I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 that is giving me a code (NO BUS 4) all of the guages do not work but the truck runs fine

A P0500 code is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) titled "Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Malfunction." This code is triggered when the vehicle's Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM) detects inaccurate speed readings or lack of a signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).

The speed cluster work from the ABS speed sensors that have separate computer it is on engine compartment near battery and brake booster. This computer work independent and only get 12v and can bus send all the info by a can bus 2 wires that run to dodge ECM same wires run to cluster. I make a diesel swap speed work ok but not my RPM any ideas

Find and check for water that may have found it's way into the connectors.

Sounds like a bad ignition switch.

check all the fuses

First check is a look in the fuse box for a blown or loose fuse and also push all relays into their sockets. The check engine light shows that a trouble code is registered in the computer. Rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs.

I had the same problem and ended up changing the oil pump and it did not fix it. (Peace of mind anyway and it was cheap) I replaced the pressure sensor (that happens to be tucked in deep between the back of the engine and firewall) and the pressure gauge worked just fine after that.

Check all fuses under hood and on end of dash don't just look test them, 95 dodges had a recall on key switch burning out, bad connector in column and to relay under dash, check all those options
