I would have the engine checked for a coolant leak that may have allowed the introduction of air into a closed system. how's the antifreeze level?

the transmission breaking apart but in a really slow way. There's not a thing that can be done to save it. It's going to someday give out. You can prolong it by not punching on the pedal to test it. just drive it normally and DON"T get the trans oil change. Just leave it alone... I own 89 P/Ave 156,000 original owner. Same thing happened to my car and picked up a used trans at junk yard and my mechanic installed it and runs like a baby at half the price(700.00). If you go to junk yards half of the park ave are because of trans. Good luck

SOURCE: my car is jerking while accelerating and reaching certain RPM

I would look for a fault in the ignition system such as a cracked spark plug. Might need a scope check to put your finger on the problem

Could be a bad brake hose. take off hose and see if you can blow thru it, very common problem. But first take bleeder out all of the way to see if it is clogged.

SOURCE: car wont stay running unless foot is on the gas

Withoutknowing if the check engine light is on it could be a variety of things including but not limited to the o2 sensor, throttle positioning sensor, and the MAF and MAP sensors. Best diagnosed by using an OBDII scanner to scan for codes. If no codes are present I would then check for the pressure coming from the fuel pump to make sure it is still functioning.

Check the transmission fluid... It sounds like your transmission is slipping.... Ie step on the gas with the vehicle in gear and the car doesn't move as fast as the engine sounds like it should be.... Hopefully you caught it early and just low on fluid. However. If the fluid level is at the proper height on the dipstick and smells like horribly burnt toast (not just a chemical smell) but really pronounced you may have serious transmission issues and need a pro, best of luck...

When I try t accelerate to pass or go uphill the rpms increase but the vehicle does not accelerate. Tranny fluid is full.

Sounds like either a bad transmission pump or torque converter. Have the vehicle evaluated by a transmission shop.

Loss of power on acceleration

check for vacuum leaks and possibly a bad vacuum modulator on the transmission. For the vacuum lines use an unlit propane torch. Engine running, pass the open torch along the lines. If you hear it rev, you just found the leak. no leak? have the modulator checked.

First..-DO THIS NOW - Change the oil and filter, change the transmission fluid and filter.. grease ALL the fitting you can find... make sure both battery cables show NO signs of corrosion..(they WILL corrode from the inside and not show on the outside!!).. clean all terminals and clean the battery terminals... a little grease on these prevents corrosion...

97 civic 5spd. Jumping while accelerating.

Just check the transmission fluid-if low you have to add until it is full-do not overfill though. Better to have it just a bit low than overfilling it.
In park, can you accelerate to 2500-3000 rpm, and hold steady with no shaking or indications of a miss? If it runs good in park or neutral, then you probably have transmission problems. Frankly, it is pretty rare for a torque converter to develop a problem. Check your fluid, or try changing the fluid if it is dark or dirty looking.
