I have Saturn 1999 SL2 and when you initial start the car in the morning for the 1st time you have to give it some gas so it will start other wise it will not start. Any suggest on what my problem might be and how to correct it?

Location of air bag sensors on 1999 saturn sl2

You will have crush sensors on the front core support and the diagnostic module with the inertia switch should be under the center console.

Saturn sl2 problems

Have you checked the fuel injectors? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Sounds to me like you have a fuel delivery problem.

Try the following: remove the airbox and spray some starter fluid into the throttle body while someone else cranks the motor. If it starts for a second and dies, then you KNOW you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't change and still won't start, then the problem is either a bad sensor somewhere (crank position sensor, maybe?) or no compression.

Engine Problem

first thing that comes to mind would be the throttle positioning sensor, or the mass air flow intake sensor on the air intake hose assembly.Symptoms of a mass airflow intake sensor would be very poor acceleration or engine dying when gas pedal is mashed hard. Throttle positioning sensor can give you and irradical idle while sitting still. You might want to have a scan to diagnose the problem.

Absolutely if the TPS throttle position is out how can your EFI computer communicate with it if it is malfunctioning!!! Replace the throttle position switch and drive on
