Need go check voltage at starter, under car, on small wire going to starter, check with test light, should have voltage there, while key is in stater, have some one hold it there while you check, if you have voltage there, with key to start only, bad starter assembly.

Alternator has nothing to do with a car starting. All it does is charges the battery. If the battery is good and charged then you most likely left a sensor unhooked or you did not disconnect the battery to replace the alternator and popped a fuse or possilby damaged a computer if a short occured.

SOURCE: Charging problem.. Wont charge battery

The instructions for installing a new alternator usually read to fully charge the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volt range). Otherwise, the alternator will be damaged when it initializes. I have seen some extreme damage result from installing a new alternator with a low-charge battery. The torque required to turn an alternator when damaged in this scenario is unbelieveable!

SOURCE: wont start after changing the alternator, battery, and MAF sensor

Sometimes the alarm thinks the pos. battery cable has been cut so it kills the ighition. You will have to look in the manual to see how to reset the alarm. You may need a code. If its not the alarm, you may have blown a fuse or worse, fried the computer when you put the alt. in. start at the begining. Check the battery cable connections, battery voltage, alt. wires and connections. if the headlighys work but the car won't start, it's prob. not a "connection" problem.

SOURCE: NEW ALTERNATOR, NEW BATTERY, CAR still dies and wont start

Check the main power fuse that goes to the alternator output. if the alternator went out it could have burnt this fuse also.

Galant wont start

Interesting, this sounds just like no output from the alternator. If the alternator is good then it has to be the cabling or connections to the battery. If you have a multimeter take a reading on the cabling then read what is actually reaching the battery posts.

Battery light came on and car wont start now when i shut it off

will engine crank?? if not, recheck battery cable connections. if vehicle ran until shut off, tells me that your charging system kept vehicle running until vehicle was shut off. alternator light can be related to faulty alternator and or bad battery.

My car just clicks when i try to start it, what could be wrong?

You probably have a battery drain from a defect. circuit. Just put a test light between the ground of the battery and the ground cable. If you have a drain problem, the light will go on. Then you remove the fuses one by one until the light goes out to isolate the circuit. A electrical wiring diagram will be appreciated. I would say it is the installers fault and that the alternator is probably working fine, but the alternator is either hooked up wrong or has a broke wiring harness or the belt is under driven or this is the wrong alternator for your vehicle. or the best answer is you have a short somewhere causing the charge from the alternator to not reach the battery. In other words the pathway is broken. There can only be a few answers to this question. Something is broken/loose(wiring) /installed wrong/or the wrong part. Try the z net from autozone. It will give step by step instructions. You need to include further information of the vehicle(year/make/model/size engine/ if you want specific informationPull the pos strap off of the battery when the car is running, if it dies and you know that the alternator is good you could have a short. That could be what is killing your batteries.

Is your car killing batteries overnight? Could have a short somewhere else and that short just put more strain on your alternator.one way to see is to start car with nothing on in the car an remove hot lead from battery car should stay running if it do turn head lights on car should die Resistance in the wiring due to corrosion or poor ground. Sometimes theres a regulator that controls the voltage and amps within the alternator that is defective

Car wont start no lights and batterie is dead . jump it and it starts right up

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to make sure the battery is holding a proper charge. Clean the terminals and clean the post. You could have a weak alternator draining your battery. You can test it by starting the car and unplugging the hot side battery terminal once the battery is charged. If it dies instantly, your alternator is bad. You may need a new battery.

Battery keeps draining new battery and alternaltor

Sounds like an alternator. When it goes bad, your car is forced to run off of the battery , which wont last long depending on what all you have running .
The alternator keeps your battery charged after your car starts.
Try replacing the alternator and let me know if you have any more problems.
