Pull out the radio. take the numbers to the dealer and explain to them your situation, show your I.D and will usually help you. The code is to deter theft,it is not to just piss you off

GM radio security codes require access to the GM factory information data base. Fixya doesn't have this access only GM dealers.

Contact a GM dealer, preferably the selling dealer. They may have the code stored in their computer system if they sold the car. Otherwise you are probably going to have to remove the radio and get the Serial # off the radio. With this serial # the GM dealer will provide the code.

Instructions:

1. If your radio displays the word LOC, you can retrieve a set of factory numbers in the radio that enable you to get a backup unlock code. If the radio says INOP, you will have to leave the key in the "ON" position, or let the car run for at least 1 hour before you attempt any unlock procedure. INOP means a secondary theft lock due to too many false attempts to unlock the radio.
2. Looking at the face of your GM Delco radio, hold down the preset buttons 1 & 4 OR 2 & 3 (Depending on year and model) for approximately 10 seconds or until a set of 2 or 3 numbers comes up on the display. Write the numbers down.
3. Next press the AM / FM button. A new set of 3 numbers will now show. Write these numbers down. You will then need to call a 1-800 phone number with these numbers to get the unlock code. There are many sites on the internet that can get it for you- for a small fee. Or, try calling your local GM Dealer and ask for them to do it. Many times they will do it for free. It only takes a minute.
4. Once you have the unlock code, enter it by pressing the MIN button until the display shows the last 2 digits of the unlock code, then press the HR button until the first 2 numbers or shown. Then press the AM / FM button to enter the code. The radio will now display SEC, and normal function is restored.

Also, its possible that you need RESET your GM Radio; this is the procedure: While performing maintenance on your car, you may disconnect the radio from the battery in your GM vehicle. GM cars contain Delco radios that are protected by Theftlock, which locks the radio after it has been disconnected from a power source. Iit can only be reset and unlocked with a car-specific security code. Identifying the security code for your GM vehicle is the only way to reset the car radio and disable the Theftlock protection device.

1. Turn on your car. Your Delco radio will show "LOC" in the LED display.
2. Press and hold down both the second and third preset buttons. Hold these buttons down for at least six seconds.
3. Write down the two- or three-digit code that appears in the LED display.
4. Press the AM/FM button on the radio.

12. Press the AM/FM button. If you have entered the code correctly, your LED display will read "SEC" and the radio will be unlocked.

Your car has a anti theft radio in it . What has happened is at one time some one entered a code into the radio. What you are going to need to do is stop at your GM dealer and have them unlock the radio. The charge will be approx 30$ (that's what my dealer charges) Make sure you specify that you want the old code removed. Also ask them for the four digit backup code they get when they call GM. They will press numbers 2 and 3 on your radio and get digits then they will press am fm button and get two more digits and with those digits they will call a 1-800 number that only GM can call and they will get the unlock code. Sorry but I cannot divulge the number. Big TROUBLE!!! Hope I have helped

If no one has ever entered a code the default should be 4-0s or 4-1s If it has had a code entered in to it and you dont have it ,, Well,, Sorry.. Lee

If the code is not at the back of your manual, try 0000 and if the radio locked it self from taking any more codes. Just disconnect the battery and that will reset the radio so you can re-enter the code. If 0000 did not work then log on to Radio-code.com, you can get your cod there for like $12.00 which is cheaper then the dealer and you get to know the codes as most dealer will just unlock the radio. No. You will need to take it to a gm shop to have it fixed. Each time there is a differant code in the radio, the tech will get that code and will call gm headquarters and get the special unlock code. You have to be a gm cerified tech to get the code from gm. I wish they would made this system more costomer friendly, but that's what they decided.

They are all random codes that are stored in the radio. The radio can lock it's self with possible 10.000 differant codes. You will need to take it to the dealer to have them use the gm scaner to retreive the code that is in the radio then they call the gm headquarters and those egg heads give an unlock code for the car.
