I have a 96 ford f350 with a 7.3 diesel. The

I have a 96 ford f350 with a 7.3 diesel. The speedomiter stopped working after a brief whining sound. Then my ABS light came on and my over drive light started flashing and the transmishion started to shift hard and not go into 3rd gear all at the same time.
I was told to replaced the speed control sensor on top of the rear differantal. So I did.
The problem still exists. What else can I do.

This does not help. I do not have a speedometer cable.

You may have spun the speedometer cable gear off in the transmission. Try replacing the speedometer cable.

What has been placed in the hole to your transmission where your speedometer cable would normally go?

Whining is typically one of two things. The power steering fluid is low or the water pump is on its way out.

It sounds like a Bearing is worn in one of the wheels or in the Drive-shaft. Get a mechanic to check it out

Whining noise

would need head under the bonnet to know for sure but feel the AC lines as a lack of gas can cause a noise like this but its not often that you can hear it above the clanking of the diesel engine ,no petrol ones here at our fuel prices

short probably in the radio. if it is after market radio there is bare wires some were some radios like kenwood when shorted just need to disconnect the power like your key on/off and it will reset

Whining sound comeing from engine

It maybe the problem of V8 6.5 turbo diesel. To use the turbo success, the car must be reached the high certain speed. So it maybe the normal that whining sound coming from engine. Diagnostic engine regularly.

Hi. The whining noise you hear is the fuel pump priming the fuel lines. If you don't hear the sound anymore then your fuel pump has stopped working. Check your fuses. Also look for a relay for the fuel pump. The relay will usually be in a large box under the hook that says fuse and relay panel or something similar. If the fuses and relay are working the the pump will probably need to be replaced.

Noisy crownwheel and pinion whine , most likely worn carrier and pinion bearings,new bearings may not cure the fault, as the back lash and tooth engagement has changed and may still whine.

Does the winding noise speed nup and slow down with the movement of the car? Does the sound seem like an electrical whine or a mechanical whine? It could be your speedomiter cable.
