Number one cylinder misfiring.

Compresssion checked ok. fuel injectors checked ok. new plugs (ngk) wires, cap and button. Truck was running fine. Started misfiring, started up a few hours later and ran fine for about 100 miles then started misfiring again.

Check and replace your timing belt, although it is probably not the culprit, I have seen a tooth missing from a worn timing belt cause misfiring.

It is probably the Crankshaft Position Sensor, or the Camshaft Position Sensor causing the misfire.

Thanks for your advice. Is the camshaft position sensor located in the distributor? Where is the crankshaft postion sensor located and is it very difficult to replace?
    Thanks

The Camshaft position sensor is located in the distributor. The crankshaft position sensor is somewhere else on the engine. If you can get a hold of a Haynes manual for your pickup, it will show you the location, as well as the proper test and values for this sensor. Good luck!

2000 GMC Sierra w/4.3 misfire on #2,4 cylinders

If it were low fuel pressure misfire , it wouldn't be cylinder specific misfire #2 , 4 it would be P0300 random misfire . I would think fuel injector's too . When hot they could be breaking down electrically , more resistance . If they tested electrically with a lab scope they would know for sure . Misfire from sticking fuel injector no fuel misfire

Is this a 4.9L engine? An inline 6? My database doesn't show a 4.9L in that model year. It does show that engine in 95.
Did you visually check for spark at number 4 cylinder?
For 95-- 4.9L--fuel pressure--50--60 psi. Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, see if fuel pressure will hold for a bit with everything off.
Fuel--spark--compression. Some ford makes and models, ford can disable the fuel injector, if misfire is detected. I only mention this because, swapping injectors may not be conclusive? You can check for fuel injector pulse, anyway.
How long since over-all tune-up? You did get a new fuel filter, if inline filter, correct?

replace the cap,and rotor,if this does not help, use a good fuel cleaner, like lucas, and heet together for cleaning and moister. You may have clogged injectors, also check the fuel filter,if there is not enough fuel pressure it will do this also.

Most likely I a would suspect the fuel rail had moisture in it. If you checked emissions it would most likely show no HC and alot of 02 and no CO. If it does show alot of HC then I would suspect sticking valves intermittantly . The pinging really points to no fuel issue tho. If you pull the injector connector off and no change then I would remove the fuel rail and inspect. Also make sure the wires are in the correct locations. It easy to get them wrong.

1998 Chevy s10 4 cylinder running rough

One thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator.
If the diaphram is leaking it will cause gas to be pulled into the vacuum system causing lots of white smoke and extreme rough running.
