On-off with ignition 3 times and you will get error code in odometer. Check the code from the internet gods, it will tell you. Probably small evaporation leak detected from loose gascap. Try removing ground from battery for 10 min, then replace. It should go away. If comes back, something more serious perhaps.

With most durangos and older rams, not having the gas cap tightened just right can cause the engine light to come on. Try screwing the gas cap on tighter, start and kill engine a couple times and see if your light goes off!

No, The paper clip trick won't work on this one. You need a scanner. Autozone will read the codes for free.

Ok 2001 dodge durango the check engine light is on its code is 1196p done what does it take to fix so check engine light goes off

The code reads as..
"Slow Switching O2 Sensor Bank two Sensor one During catalyst monitoring"
You may have a faulty oxygen sensor on you exhaust system. If you have a V6 or V8 engine you will have sensors on both exhaust pipes.
Some engine error codes don't automatically clear. Certain codes need to be plugged into an OBD2 diagnostic scanner to delete it.

My brake lights are not working on my dodge durango 5.9 liter 360 hp 2001 ive changed the fuse for the hazard lights, they are working fine now and ive changed the bulbs. the switch under the brake pedal...

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

Try to check the ground of the tail lights. It can be disconnected or worn out. It's a black colored wire that needs to be attached on the car's body. This can do the trick.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Why doesn't the engine light go off on my 2001 dodge durango

Which engine light are you referring to? If you are talking about the Check Engine light then it is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. It can be as minor as a loose gas cap or more severe. You need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. The tool will retrieve the code stored by the ECU. This will tell the technician what part is being effected but not necessarily the defective part. It takes skill and training to determine what the problem is. I suggest you seek out a qualified mechanic with the tools and training and do not just throw parts at the problem.

2001 durango brake lights dont work ,already replaced brake switch

More than one possibility. Could be bad bulbs, damaged wires, bad turn signal switch (yes, the brake lights work through the turn signal switch) - has the vehicle been worked on recently?

My check engine light is on. The code is P0121

I believe all the Mopar OBDC codes are the same. A list of the 2001 codes were posted on a PT Cruiser site here: 2001 Chrysler codes

Your error says the throttle position sensor and MAP sensor disagree with each other

Hoe do I reset the security light on a 2000 Dodge Durango

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO A CODE THAT WAS THROWN, JUST RESETTING THE LIGHT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING CAUSE THE CODE STILL REMAINS THERE, YOU WOULD NEED AN OBD2 READER TO SEE WHAT THE CODE IS THAT IS COMING UP AND TO RESET IT. IF YOU DONT FIX WHAT IS THROWING THE CODE THE LIGHT WILL NEVER GO OUT.
