Chevy Venture has a timing chain, not a belt. It is a very involved job to replace. If you have never done a timing chain before you may want to consider having it done proffesionally.

I don't have a solution, but a related problem. Our 2004 Chevy Venture power door locks are cycling (locking/unlocking) on their own while we are driving. This coincides with our remote keyless entry losing its effectiveness. I tried replacing the battery on the remote, but to no avail.

the belt tensioner is responsible for keeping proper tension on the belt... a likely cause for the squeel is a belt slightly too long or a defective belt.

no you dont need a special tool you have to take the throttle body off it makes it sooooooo much more simple.
