I have learned that my 87 Z's electrical issues are par for the course with this model. Having the mess of electrical diagnosed is pricey, and often without result. One problem I fixed with the help of an Ebayer selling my same car...the many routes for water to get in often short things out. His had the same issue as mine, in that the rear brake lights provide an avenue for water. It took me several fixes to get it right. Hatch and t-tops also allow moisture to collect in rear well/tool storage, and corode things on the way. I still find shorts that drain my battery, it's an ongoing project, but I love a challenge!
hope this helps

No power to excite fuel pump relay 1987 300zx turbo

Check the fuel system inertial switch (collision cutoff switch), located in the trunk. It should have a reset button. Push it. If that does not work, try BYPASSING the switch to see if the pump works then. If it does, replace the switch.

If bubba is fixing your car, go somewhere else. Bypassing the fuse box as you found out just gets you more problems. I recommend going to the dealer and have a qualified mechanic look at it. It well worth the small increase in cost verses get help from bubba for a stick of gum and a hit off the jug of moonshine for help.......

How does the conderser work that has voltage going thru it to the ground on the distribitor

The condensor works by storing electricity. What you are looking at on this car(given its age)is a noise supressor for the audio system. This "filters" the current so you don't get static.
