At a certain point in a truck/car's life, the gas that is in the shocks, or the fluid, starts to degrade, or seep away, at which point it is horrendously ineffective at cushioning out those potholes before they reach your rump. It sounds like shock replacement time.

You're correct friend, on replacing with heavier duty shocks. That would be a plus for your driving experience. The short wheelbase on these "Blazer" style vehicles does make for a rough ride.

I would check your tire pressure, if your running 60 psi it's going to be a bumpy ride, lower the air pressure to 35 psi and see if it makes a differance, does the truck move up and down when you jump on the bumpers or is it stiff ?

Riding rough sounds like shocks.. but I dont think gran am has shocks.. could it be the moter mount that would make it ride rough and when you turn the stering wheel back and forth while driving it sways.

All cars have shocks and/or struts. Grand am has front struts and either rear struts or shocks. When these are worn, the ride would be rough. If a motor mount was bad, you may feel rocking or visually see the motor wiggle back and forth when you press and release the accelerator pedal. Motor mounts won't affect handling. Either shocks/struts, sway bar, stabalizer bar or links are the common cause

My car drops in the back at night . but lifts back up when the car is started

sounds like bad air shocks, or a leaking line, most of the time its the shock , they get rusted and dont seal that good anymore and the air slowly leaks out.
