My 1996 dodge 1500 with a 318 will not idle why is that?

2000 Dodge stratus es stalls at idle, but after the car is driven for about 15 minutes, it runs fine. Also if it sits a couple days it takes a few tries to get it started. Can't figure out the problem

I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 5.2L V-8 and i have replaced the tps with a brand new one two times and my truck still idles up and down. I haven't got a clue what is making it do it.

look for a vacuum leak the plastic intake manifolds crack when the engine is cold spay the intake with carb cleaner you will hear the idle raise or stumble depending on the size of the leak

What are the seqence and torque specs. on a 1999 dodge ram 1500,318?

The torque values are 85 ft/lbs. Tighten the bolts in at least three stages, the first tightening should be 30 ft/lbs and then at least twice at the full torque of 85 ft/lbs.

There are ten head bolts and the order is as below:-

9.........5..........1........3.........7

you have a throttle positon sensor located on the throttle body were your gas pedal cable is connected you can try to clean with throttle body cleaner or electronics cleaner or spend 50 bucks for a new one. ps be sure there is no vaccuum leaks

I would check the iac(idle air control valve) first it controls the idle, and then if it is still acting up you may have to change the crank/cam position sensor

Stop and idle stops, starts right back up and runs fine with a few rpm

The problem is your accelerator pump - it is attached to the throttle body on the side facing the fire wall. VERY EASY to replace.

have a shop check TSB #19-10-97 fixed mine

Use the balljoint removal tool to remove. Sometimes a bottle jack comes in handy for the stuck ones. When you put them back on, use a big C-Clamp

You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for any vehicle if you ever need it.

sounds like a vacuum leak. they make a spray you can put on the vacuum lines and it will bubble up i forgot what its called. good luck
