Where is computer located on 2001 nissan maxima, transmission keeps slipping as i'm driving and i have to shut car off for a few minutes to reset. now the car wont start I'm assuming its the computer

Take the kick panels of both the passenger and the driver side. The computer is located in front of the shift lever visible up under the dash.

you can try unplugging the battery for few days. not guaranteed that it will do, but you can try it. if not, than you can get just a simple code reader from sears for about 75bucks and do it like that and after that you have a code reader for the future. if you dont want to do that, then you need to go to nissan dealer, pay 45 bucks (half hour of labor??) depending on a dealer and have the light/ecm memory erased and not have a code reader for future issues. I would buy code reader and erase my self and keep code reader.

i will assume that you are referring to the clutch master cylinder , you bleed the system at the clutch slave cylinder located on the transmission bellhousing

Resetting the computer is usually done by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes then reattach.

What you need is a "revolution sensor" I had the same exact problem. Replaced the sensor and everything is fine
