Not sure about the advice above...If your experiencing a rear wheel locking up, I've seen where the emergency brake cable is not releasing and is stuck. Best bet is to have someone operate the E-brake while you watch the cable underneath the car on the right side. If you don't see the cable retracting, clamp a pair of vice grips tightly onto the cable (away from where it could retract into the sheath) and tap the vice grips "away" from the wheel. This will "persuade" the cable to retract, therefore releasing the emergency brake. If that's it, don't use the emergency brake until you either lube it real well or replace it. Good luck!
Rear wheel bearings on front wheel drive vans are much like front wheel bearings before front wheel drive. You have an inner and outer bearing with a nut and lock washer. After the bearings are packed with grease, you tighten down the axle nut until snug then back it off a notch. Then put the lock washer or lock ring on. Some have a cotter pin to hold the nut in place. The wheel should spin with no drag from the bearings.
This is not really a weekend mechanic type job a more delicate operation that needs a proper trained mechanic to locate and repair the problem,i think it may be a seized wheel cylinder or a sticky caliper and without stripping it myself and having a good look myself i wouldnt know so you will have trust your local mechanic to do it for you
put car in reverse and very gently try to back up,it is possible the the brakes have locked on (rusty )low miles will cause brakes rust very quickly.a few stop/starts will clear them.
Why are they locked up, did someone push emergency brake, or has van been sitting for along time, or maybe a few days after a rain? Tried pulling ahead first?
Chock the front tires, loosen up the lug nutes on the rear tires, jack the rear end up, uncap the adjuster dust caps on the back of the rear drums, either use a brake spoon or straight blade screwdriver and turn the star adjuster while spinning the wheel until you have no resistance. If this does not work remove the rear tires and hit the sides of the drums with a small sledge hammer or hammer to loosen & break up the rust, When you get movement on the drum, hit it betweeen the studs. Be patient, this may take some time.
