Replace power steering pump, belt, replace with clean power steering fluid, replace power steering hoses as well. if its making a sound look for leaks, try stop leak first.

My car is leaking power steering how to fix it?

With hydraulic power steering.
You may have a pressure hose and return hose, if problem with hose, you replace it.
I can't rule out a problem with rack&pinion?
Your steering shaft probably attaches to rack&pinion assembly.

1997 Jeep grand Cherokee limited 5.2l v8....how to fix very stiff steering. I have changed the power steering pump already an it is still hard to turn my wheels

sound like lack of lubrication at the steering joints, your ball joints need greasing and make sure you bleed power steering system, check power steering fluid level.if low more like power steering system full of air need bleeding.

Steering wheel is hard to turn...is that power steering fluid? Is there a specific kind for 2001 Zx2?

Does your car make a groaning noise when you turn the wheel? It could be a few different things. The first thing you want to do is check your power steering fluid. If it's low, top it off and see if that helped. It just takes a standard power steering fluid, nothing specific.

If the power steering fluid was low and that fixed the problem, you need to ask yourself the question - Why was the fluid low? There's probably a leak somewhere that needs to be fixed.

If the power steering fluid wasn't low, then there's a couple other things it could be. If the car makes a groaning noise when you turn the wheel, chances are that you have a bad power steering pump. If there's no noise and you just don't have any power steering at all then it could be a bad pump or a bad power steering rack.

Hopefully this helps you figure it out. Good Luck!

How do you fix the power steering of a 2006 chevy malibu, when drive the steering wheel locks up and its very hard to turn.

a few possibilities.
Low power steering fluid. check for correct amount on pump filler measureing guage.

Loose power steering belt. check to see if the belt slips over the power steering pulley while trying to turn the steering wheel. may need an assistant.

last, but most expensive. Rack and pinion steering bar is defective and needs replacing.

you need to jack up the front wheels with the key half on so the steering is free and the motor off turn the wheels left to right all the way slowly this will bleed the system repeat as needed one time will not be enough ,you can check with starting the engine and cranking the steering to see if it is free of air .

Power steering is locked up...power steering fluid full

Hi if you have no power steering assist
check to see if the power steering shaft is broken
open the hood and the power steering pump is located on lower left of the engine
use a big screw driver or even your hand and try and pull the power steering pully towards the rad
if you can move the pully out then the power steering shaft is broken and you will need to replace the power steering pump
hope this helps you
