SOURCE: Will not start 96 blazer

Most engine computers will not activate the fuel pump relay if there is no oil pressure. Listen for a hum after trying to crank when you stop cranking. You can try spraying some starting fluid (Ether) on the air filter and trying to start it. If it still won't start with the ether, you may not be looking at a fuel problem. Check visually (never by touching) for a wet distributor cap or spark plug wires. Also check for cracking, blistering or burn marks on the distributor cap, ignition coil, spark plug wires or the ignition control module.

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems

I am not sure but you might want to check the pressure of the fuel pump.

SOURCE: I Have a 2002 blazer that starts but motor dies, surges when accelerating

If this engine is a VORTEC then you may have a problem with the internal fuel system. Under the top plenum there is a fuel reg and poppet valves that inject fuel into the cylinders. Sometimes the tubes that run fuel from the reg to the valves can leak and cause your problem. This cannot be found with pressure check because this occurrs after the reg. PS fuel mileage will go down. Let me know if this helps.Moe

Hi,

The possibilities are too numerous to get into here.

Either take your vehicle to AutoZone for a FREE diagnostic scan or they'll loan you a scanner. This will enable you to pinpoint the problem(s) almost immediately.

All the best,

2000jgc shuts off while driving. replaced crank shaft sensor, tighten battery connects, no check engine light comes on, no codes avalible. at times one codes does come up when check engine comes o2 sensor...

Have you checked the map sensor? I have known a few vehicles that did this. Sometimes it would go 5 miles, other times 30. Martin, they would get the same code, O2 sensor. If so, I would try to replace that and it probably will solve the issue. The car would die a few times a day. If you have anymore questions, let me know Martin. I am here to help you.

I have a 1996 chryster Sebring Convertible jxi 2.5L 6cy startes and runs ok but when u go to drive sometime it goes and sometimes it dies

I have a car just like yours. My car use to do the same thing. When I checked for a code, it showed nothing. I would be driving down the road, sometimes 50-60, and it would just cut off. I bought a MAP sensor and that fixed my problem. Hope that helps.

Map sensor code comes up and the car will not start it turns over and start sometimes but just dies sometimes while driving

Most likely a dirty sensor. Be extremely careful as this is a delicate part in an engine. You can remove the sensor (it will have a few prongs and copper/brass connectors) and spray it down with electronics cleaner. Go to radio shack and ask for some. Do not touch the sensor. Once the sensor and the plug is cleaned. Replace the sensor very gently. Pay close attention to where all the prongs go. Or you can ask a mechanic to do this for around $30 or at the dealership it would be about $90 and should only take about an hour. Good luck!

96 acura integra, show code 108 will map sensor make abs light come on, and will this cause a rotten exhaust smell?

MAP stands for manifold absolute pressure. It will not cause your abs to come on. The systems are totally separate. When your abs light is on it only means the abs is turned off, and reg. braking is active.

The rotten smell comes from the cat converter. It is probably time to get a new cat installed and it may take care of the map sensor code. though you can't promise.

Hope this helps

Have a 96 Blazer Lt V6 it will not start unless I prime it first then it seems to run great, but sometimes I need to reprimer it again after I drive it for a few miles and park it and when I put gas in...

Your temp gauge is wrong, check your fuel filter, may be clogged up, then I would say there is a system leakdown in the fuel system. You may have a pump going bad in the fuel tank.
