1998 Volve S70. The abs light and the tracs off light stay on all the time. any idea why? the drivers seat automatic button will move the seat backward but not forward. All the memory buttons work and it will move forward in memory only. All other driver seat buttons work except to move forward. Any ideas?

On ABS light most common problem is ABS control module , they failing left and right.
As for the seat adjustment , sound like you need a new seat switch.

Seems electric to me but i have not idea.. My dash lights all work, but the ABS and Check Trac lights are staying lit.. I press the Track button in the glove box not working. Could this be cause of my...

Any time the ABS light is on the traction control light will be on and the system will be disabled.

The ABS light is on because the ABS computer has detected a fault either in its self check if the light comes on at start up and stays on or when the vehicle is moving, the light will come on at start up then turn off and then come back on after the vehicle is moving.

The best advice I can give is have the ABS computer scanned for codes. This will give a good direction to head into to solve the problem. A high end muti-function scan tool or a ABS specific code reader will be needed to do this.

Once you know the code(s) post them and I'll be happy to help you further.

Some common problems I see on the minivans are rear speed sensors and broken exciter rings. The exciter rings will cause the light to come on after you start moving and can also have some other symptoms like overactive ABS and not turn on the light as well.

A bad speed sensor can cause the light to come on and stay on. There is a way to check them but you will need a good DVOM and know how to use it.

I have a 1998 Volvo S70 and sometimes the speedometer and odometer work but most of the time they don't?

This is probably a fault with the ABS control unit. Is your ABS light on?

My ABS light stays on and my Trac is off - have no idea what this means. Has been like this for about a year. I have an 1996 volvo

The tracs off light comes on automatically whenever the ABS light goes off. Each of 4 wheels has an ABS sensor. The ABS light usually comes when any one of these sensors go bad. It could also be the ABS computer but the computers usually last the lifetime of the car on Volvos. Then, of course it could be some wire spliced somewhere in the ABS circuit and that would be something very difficult to find where the short is. But try the sensors, they are usually the culprit.

TRACS AND ABS ARE ON ALMOST ALL THE TIME-THEY SEEM TO GO WHEN IT IS COLD OUT-GO OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY-HOW CAN COLD BE AFFECTING THIS?

Usually those are symptoms of the ABS Controller going bad. The lights will be intermittent for a while and eventually stay on all the time. You can contact this guy for a rebuild, http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

Abs light is on

This generally means that you have a problem with your brake system. I would try opening the hood and checking the brake fluid level on your Avalon.

THE ABS light on my Volvo S70 went on and turned off in a minute.

It should come on for a few seconds with the other lights, but should not stay on for a minute.  If you get an intermittent ABS light it could be a speed sensor or more likely the ABS module.  If you get an ABS light along with a flashing arrow light, traction control light, or  speedometer and odometer goes out, then it is just about guaranteed to be an ABS module issue.  There are online sites that will rebuild ABS units for around $150 or less.  They are pretty easy to remove and install yourself with the right socket.  Google "Victor Rocha".  His site has good information on the procedure and he is well trusted for his rebuilding jobs (I have no affiliation to him or the site).
