  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the lower radiator hose from thermostat outlet.

  1. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolts.
  2. Remove the thermostat housing to 2004 thermostat where is it located on engine - 46ebede.jpgfeed pipe.

There are 2 large lines that connect to the radiator. One on the Top half of the radiator and one on the bottom. Follow the top line back to where it connects to the engine. Your Thermostat will be located there.

Water cooling system - where is the thermostat for the cooling system located. 6 cyclinder 2004 SLT
The thermostat is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is difficult to see, but it is behind the alternator. The lower radiator hose goes to a metal tube, that is part of the thermostat housing. Below is a picture of thermostat and temp sensor location (alternator removed).

THE V6 ENGINE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE AIR FILTER HOUSING DUCT LEADING TO THE THROTTLE BODY.FOLLOW THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE TO LOCATE THE THERMOSTAT.FOR THE V8 ENGINE THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING IS LOCATED ABOVE THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR AND NEAR THE RIGHT END PASSENGER SIDE OF EXHAUST MANIFOLD.

The thermostat is located inside the thermostat housing. To find it follow the upper radiator hose to the engine block.
Depending what size of engine you have the location is different.
The thermostat on this vehicle's (the Envoy & Trailblazer are essentially the same vehicle) In-line 6 cylinder engine is on the driver's side of the engine, below & behind the alternator.
If you have a V8 cylinder engine is in front of engine see the picture. Item 303 thermostat housing, 305 thermostat, and 304 thermostat gasket.

The thermostat is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine.

Where is the thermostat located on the 2004
Follow the hoses from the top of the rad. out to the engine block, where the hose hooks to the engine is where the t-stat is located. look for sensors and a seam for a gasket.
