First the change oil light: turn the key on, do not start. wait ten seconds. fully depress the gas pedal three times rapidly. wait another 10 seconds, and start the car. the light should be out. if not, repeat.

there is no reset for the low coolant light. the light will remain illuminated until the coolant is topped up. if the coolant level is ok, and the light is still on, there is a problem with either the level sensor or the wiring - more likely the sensor. good luck!

make sure your plastic coolant container mounted on inside right fender is at least half full. Keep your eye on the temp gauge and make sure the car doesn't overheat. These sensors are very touchy and sometimes cause a fault when actually there is no real problem. Also make sure you didn't knock loose the oil pressure sending unit connector, located near the oil filter. Happy Motoring!

I have a 96 cadillacsls that is over heating- no leaks but it is pouring out the over flow tube?
Did you over heat warning message come on " Urgent shut off engine" or check coolant message? My coolant message came on but once car warmed up, it was late summer. No leakage but coolant level was low; added some coolant. Then it happened again but once car warmed up the check message disappeared. Then a few days later I got the Urgent Shut off Engine message! Thankfully I was able to pull off road and shut down immediately. Had it towed to Caddy shop. My water pump had gone out. New Pump and replaced all hoses. Then a year later check coolant light came on again, once car warmed up, light went off. This time tho a small leak in the radiator. My husbank put in a new radiator. Car has 117K miles and a few weeks ago outside temp 35, running late for work and didn't allow car to warm up but just a minute or two and when I puled away the check coolant light came on; but once the car warmed up (temp gauge needle in center) the light went out. Being the car is 17 years old I try to treat her like a baby and not push her so I do let the engine warm up before driving away. Do you have to add oil between oil changes? This is normal for the Northstar engine; your regular garages or full service stations don't know this; also make sure if you aren't using an authorized Cadillac garage that they put the right amount of oil; they want to put less than what is required. Not sure if this is really a solution more comments than anything... :)

Oil pressure low shut off engine light goes on and off
possible ******** head gasket, check oil to see if milky and check coolant to see if oily if so replace head gasket.

97 blazer lost coolant, stopped immediately due to loss of power. Now won't turn over?
Can you see where the coolant is coming from or were it's going? This vehicles are notorious for the lower intake gasket leaking and at times it could mix with the oil. Check your oil level if higher than normal or a milky appearance you may need to chance the gasket and change the oil.

I have a 97 Chevy Lumina. It has 276,*** miles on it. I bought it used 4 months ago. It was running excellent then the service engine soon light, low coolant light, and change oil soon light started coming...
The fact that the oil was low would not be from the oil pump, but from wear in the engine. If it is not smoking when you start it or as you drive, you can probably keep it running by just keeping the oil level checked at each fuel fill-up. As for the car shutting off, you didn't say if the engine seized or got real hot. A low oil pressure problem should have triggered a warning light before the problem got to the point where you lost the engine.

If the car ran after you added the oil, you got lucky and need to always check it.

The crank sensor can cause the stalling out but as far as the oil change message and the wiper and the low coolant these are not related, the oil change message has to be reset look in the owners book for steps to reset it, the low coolant light is common, this is low coolant or the sensor is dirty or bad and the wipers, you will need to test for power at the motor if theres power at the motor then the motor just went bad but has nothing to do with the stalling out.

To clear the oil change light,turn the key to on,and press the accelerator pedal three times real slow within 5 seconds,this will clear the light,now on the coolant light sensor,low coolant,remove the sensor on the passengers side of the radiator,it has a wire clip,so use a small pick,with a slight hook on it,the sensor is square,and flat,You will see,it needs to be cleaned out,most likely with air pressure,then put the clip back on the sensor,and it will snap back on,refill the radiator.If this was at all helpful,please rate,I have a 2000 montana myself,

What is the check gauges light
CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance
