I have a 06 town & country with a four pin wiring harness. Our pop-up camper has a 7 pin round plug. I used an adapter to connect them but it caused a blown fuse; was told by shop that would have to change wiring harness for van or camper. I am planning on changing the van's wiring harness to 7 pin round. Would appreciate any advice as perhaps link to harness that is known to be compatible with 06 t&c.

I'm assuming your pop up is big enough to have electric brakes, thus the 7 pin connector. If it doesn't, you can use an adapter (probably like you have) provided the 4 pin was wired correct in first place, but if not, figuring out what's what, shouldn't be difficult. If you do have brakes on the trailer, then the law requires it to be wired such that the brakes are operational. If your thinking of tackling this yourself, and are reasonably familiar with 12 volt wiring, we may be able to help, if not, any hitch installation place, or RV center should be able to give you a reasonable price to wire it properly for you. They usually know what wires to splice into without replacing any harness, as well as have knowledge of proper installation for electric brakes as well. Usually ends up being a choice of a higher labor price, but less time for those experienced in doing that, or paying an inexperienced guy a lower labor rate, but takes him twice as long. personally I'd go with those who do it all the time.

If van came with it brand new you might have to the dealer you got it from to have that option turned on in the ECU ... Or it might not have been connected to the wire harness at the rear of the vehicles wiring harness .. Hope that helps ...

Hello Carol, The 7 way is for use with a brake controller and/or a trailer that has electric brakes. The 4 way flat is a basic trailer plug connector.
Connect as follows:
Green wire- Connects to the vehicles right turn wire harness & provides brake light and right turn signal on trailer.

Yellow wire- Connects to vehicles left turn wire & powers brake light & Left turn signal on trailer

White wire- Ground

Brown Wire- Tail/ marker/ license plate lights

The Blue, Red & Purple wires on the 7 way will not be used on the adapter, those are for brakes.

I hope this information is helpful.

1997 town & country stalls intermittently. ... my chrysler town & country lxi dashboard cluster ligths go out

I had the same problem in the past with the lights. I repaired it by removing the the dash panel and re-soldering the pins where the harness plugs into. I am currently having the stall issue. in my research it seems to be the crank shaft sensor. I was told that the crank shaft sensor and the cam sensor work together and have decided to change them both along with the gas filter.

I am connecting a trailer towing harness to my Nissan 2004 Titan (2wd), to tow my boat and need to know what the color codes to the parking, stop, and reverse wires are.

if you go to the parts store they make them ready to plug in you will have to just unplug the tail lights and plug the wire harness inplace of it then itll plug back into the original spot.
