well, I hate to tell you, but they never made such a beast. 1994 Mazda 323 , with a 2.0 lt engine, and also no v6 was ever installed in a 323, now if you have the original engine that will be a 4 cylinder 1.6 liter timing mark on the crank and cam is at 12 o'clok., the cam says up, and you line up the mark at 3 o'clock, to the block, i hope you changed the water pump, coolant and rolers ?

tappets are done by the rule of 9 ,ie-1 down adjust 9------- 2 down adust 7 ------3 down adjust 6 .as for timing it shouldnt need touching unless you have points and a distributor which i think this year uses a module inside the distributor cap so it should not need touching

ALOT OF OLDER CARS DO FAIL THAT SMOG TEST. BUT YOU CAN PURCHASE A SMALL BOTTLE OF RXP AT AUTO ZONE OR YOU LOCAL AUTOPARTS STORE AND IT WILL PASS.. THATS IF YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON.

Remember you have pre loaded cam gear's that have to be loaded, or it will make kinda of a lifter noise but not lifter's.

1 of 2 places , check to see if its running on your fan belt. if so its easy to replace. if you cant see it it means it located @ the timing belt, you will have to remove the timming cover and the timming belt, if you are willing to do so I can assist but it is difficult if you have no experiace. Why do you want to replace what seems to be the problem?

the lifters are naking noise because they are worn out or the engine oil is not reaching them due to the oil pump,but due to your cars year they might be just worn out there is only one way to fix a problem like this is to get then replaced there is no quick fix,and also they will just get louder and louder like tick tick tick and it will sound quicker.
