Renault trafic brake calipers on the front can be pushed in with a G-clamp, but rear calipers need to be wound in, if you look at the piston it has notches for a winding tool!
If you have
disk brakes, and you cannot fit the new
brake pads in the callipers? Loosen the
brake fluid reservoir cap to allow pressure to escape. Use a large C clamp
connecting it to the front and back of the piston. Turn the screw on the clamp
to compress the brake piston then release the clamp. The piston will remain compressed
allowing you the fit the housing over the new brake pads.
On reanult traffic vans are rear pistons wond back in words//?
Under the hood loosen the brake reservoir cap, this is to allow the fluid to flow back without creating pressure in the reservoir. Put a screw driver blade between the brake pad and the disc, f necessary give it gentle taps with a hammer. Once you have a bit of an open gap twist and lever the screw driver with continuous force to push the pad back and in turn to force caliper piston back into its cylinder. The fluid in the cylinder will be forced back into the reservoir, make sure it does not over flow by putting a thick rag beneath the reservoir to catch overspill. Force the pistons back until the old pads become loose enough to remove. A 'G' clamp can be used to push the piston back until it is flush with the surface of the cylinder. There should be plenty of space now to insert the new pads. Press on the brake pedal to return as much of the the reservoir fluid back to the brake cylinder before starting on the next wheel. When you have completed everything remember to tighten the reservoir cap
