The problem is most likely worn shifter linkage. You may be able to adjust it where the linkage is connected to the steering column.

My key fob stopped working for my 2007 hummer h3 i changed batery n nothing please help

Climb into the vehicle and close the door. Insert the key into the ignition but do not turn on the vehicle.
Hold down the "Unlock" button on the driver's door while turning the key to the right to the "Accessories" position. Continue holding down the "Unlock" button.
Turn the ignition key back to the "Off" position while continuing to hold the "Unlock" button then return the key to the "On" position again. Then return the ignition key to the "Off" position. As you complete this sequence, the doors will lock, and the horn will sound, indicating that you've entered the programming mode. At this point, release the "Unlock" button on the driver's door.
Push both the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the key-less remote and hold them for roughly 15 seconds. Release the buttons when the locks click again.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. The horn will honk once more. This indicates the programming has been successful.
Remove the key from the ignition. Climb out of the vehicle and try locking and unlocking the doors with your remote key.
Tip
  • The H3 uses a Tech ll code system that often cannot be re-programmed without the help of your local dealer. If you are unable to reset your key-less fob using the steps above, your local GM dealer will be able to help.

My 1991 eb ford fairmont starts when i turn the key but stops as soon as i let the key go

Hello, It sounds like a bad Ignition switch. The keyswitch provides power to its terminals in back of the switch. The engine will have power to turn the starter and run the engine when the engine is in the START position. When the key returns to the RUN position, the next terminal on the switch is suppose to provide power to run the engine.

When the electrical contacts inside the switch wear out, the power is not put through the plug-in terminals. That is when you replace the Ignition switch.

To replace the Ignition switch, if it is in the steering column, you disconnect the negative battery cable first, and then remove the plastic cover on the steering column. There are screws under the bottom cover and you just remove them through the small holes moulded in the plastic cover. There may be a hole near the bottom of the Ignition switch which requires a long nail or drillbit to press a release spring.

Usually the key needs to be in the ACC or RUN position and the key core will pull out of the switch. Then you make a mark on the frame of the steering column before removing the switch. Some mounts are adjustable and some just bolt up and making a mark is not necessary.

Then reverse the removal procedure to reinstall a new part.

Switch won't come back after engine starts I got the switch out and the accuator seems to be sticking, how do you get accuator out

This vintage Ford has notorious problems with weakening springs in the ignition assembly, allowing the ignition to remain in the start position even after the engine is started. Common problems with this issue is the starter continuing to grind after key is released, and electrical accessories not functioning when key is released. Simple fix: Gently turn key back just a little after engine starts, allowing the ignition switch to stay where it should be if it were to return on it's own. Better fix: Replace ignition cylinder. Not a bad idea, especially since this year Ford has a seperate key for the doors anyway, not requiring a rekeying of the door locks. Hope this helps. Sometimes a thorough cleaning of the ignition linkage/assembly with compressed air will clean years of dust off of the factory greased parts.
