2OO1 FORD TAURUS WITH A PO136 CODE IWOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE CODE MEANS

O/D light flashing ? Code's are stored in the transmission control module . Have code's check this will point you in a diagnostic direction .

PO171 is the 1st o2 sensor on bank 1. With that said a vacuum leak will also throw this same code so before I go changing an o2 sensor I would completely go over the engine and look for a vacuum line or intake leak. PO136 is the o2 sensor bank 1 the second sensor in the exhaust. Again here are some of the things that can cause this code. ( I always look for a vacuum leak somewhere first)

Check for wires rubbing-shorted-cut under the vehileor melted to exhaustsystem.

bank 1 exhaust is the rear manifold towards the windshield side. Follow the exhaust down. There should be one oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter and a monitor after the catalytic converter. Be Careful.. they look the same.

P0136 = Oxygen Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank1, Sensor2)
P0141 = Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank1, Sensor2)

CHECK WIRING BEFORE REPLACING SENSORS

If 4 cylinder engine, there are only two O2 Sensors - Sensor 1 is on top, Sensor 2 is at the bottom

If 6 cylinder, there are four (4) O2 sensors (Bank1, Sensor2 is on the firewall side of this engine and is referred to as the 'DOWNSTREAM' sensor (the one AFTER the Catalytic Converter)

The code is for ( Keep Alive Power Voltage To Low ) Description: is the KAPWR has experienced a power interrupt. Possible problems: Open KAPWR circuit... Damaged PCM ...or a intermittent KAPWR circuit

This code is the circuit malfunction for the oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2. This means that the engine computer is not seeing the sensor. It may need an new sensor, have a wire between the sensor and the computer that has shorted out, or just be unplugged. Here is a link to a trouble code dictionary.

Sounds like the rear O2 sensor is at fault, you may try to replace it yourself, if you are mechanically inclined.

PO340 is the camshaft position sensor needs replacing.
P1400 is Differential Pressure Feedback sensor is bad.
