Transmission is leaking from my 2008 ford escape. The VIN number does show that it was manufactured in Kansas, but because i am in Canada the recall did not include canadian owners.

What do you need? I would cantact Ford of Canada in back of owner manual with letter, not phone, if issue is the same. TEXT:

In some of the affected vehicles, the transmission fluid cooler may develop a crack in the tube below the right hand (RH) mounting bracket from thermal and vibration fatigue. This may lead to a small transmission fluid leak and possible rough / harsh shifts. Dealers are to inspect the transmission fluid cooler for a grommet and possible fluid leak below the RH mounting bracket. Based on the results of the inspection, dealers will perform one of the following service

actions:

INSPECTION

1. Using a suitable light, look through the radiator grille and inspect the transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket for a grommet behind the mounting bolt. See Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Inspection Result Service Action

Grommet present - No further action required

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler not leaking - Install transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler leaking - Install new transmission fluid cooler.

I have taken the oil pan bolts out and there is not enough clearance to remove the pan on a 2002 Buick Regal 3800 to replace the gasket. What steps do you suggest next.

Did you remove the catalytic converter, and motor mount? Lots of stuff has to come off to get this pan out. :o(

How to take out and replace headlight bulbson 2002 passat

here are instructions from autozone.com
  1. Open the hood and if equipped with a rubber access cover, remove the cover over the back of the headlight assembly, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb.
  2. If a rubber seal/cover is mounted around the bulb, disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb, and then remove the rubber seal/cover.
  3. Once the electrical connector has been disconnected, squeeze the ends of the retaining bracket inward, then pivot the retainer away from the rear of the headlight assembly.
  4. Grasp the bulb securely and remove, noting the location of the alignment tabs for installation. Allow the bulb to cool before removing it from the headlight assembly.
NOTE Do NOT touch the glass portion of the new bulb. This will shorten the life of the bulb.

Replacing headlight

Composite Headlights
Most of the vehicles covered by this manual are equipped with composite headlight assemblies. Due to space constraints, no access may be provided to withdraw the bulbs, so the replacement usually requires removal of the composite assembly.

CAUTION The composite headlight assemblies use Halogen bulbs which contain a gas under pressure. Improper handling of the bulb could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury, follow the precautions closely.

Whenever handling a Halogen bulb, ALWAYS follow these precautions:
  • Turn the headlight switch OFF and allow the bulb to cool before changing it. Leave the switch OFF until the change is complete.
  • ALWAYS wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
  • Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
  • DO NOT drop or scratch the bulb.
  • Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
  • Place the used bulb in the new bulb's carton and dispose of it properly.
  1. Raise the hood and locate the bulb mounting location at the rear of the composite headlamp body.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. If necessary for access, remove the splash shield or side marker lamp(s).
  4. On some models it may be necessary to remove the side marker lamp.
