Instructions for removing 1999 chev cavalier water pump

locate the water pump and see if you see a leak...

1. If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolts.

Remove the thermostat.

To install:

1. Install the thermostat.

Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe.

1. Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt and tighten the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt to 89 lb inches (10 Nm).
2. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install the exhaust manifold.
3. Fill the cooling system.

CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD.YOUR FUEL FILTER STOPPED UP OR FUEL PUMP GONE.BUT FIRST HOOK CAR TO SCANNER TO SEE WHAT CODES IS BEFORE SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY.

good price but is it worth it? 99 Cavaliers go for less now a days

REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT

with the serpentine belt still on,loosen the 3 bolts holding water pump pulley on.remove serpentine belt.remove the 3 bolts and take off the pulley.If you want,you can remove the alternator for easier access to pump.loosen the 4 bolts on pump and allow coolant/water to drain from engine.remove bolts ,remove water pump,clean gasket off engine block.install pump etc.in reverse order.install 50-50 mix of dex-cool coolant(coolant and water mix).run vehicle with radiator cap off to remove air bubbles from system.install radiator cap,top off recover bottle.

Most older gm cars you can use dexron 2 transmission fluid or find in your local parts store a good brand of universal fluid.
