Unlikely you burned out both bulbs at once. And the fuse is most likely good. I would be inclined to check the wires coming from the rear of the car going to the lights. Since you have the break light working in the rear window there isn't an issue with the fuse or the break switch or the main wire running to the back. So that leaves the wires "y" ing off the main wire in the very rear of the rig or the ground .
Did you check to see if the bulbs are any good? Is power reaching the bulbs? If not, why? Bad wire, bad fuse?
Until you find the problem assuming the bulbs are good, since the rear window brake light is good, you can always tap that hot line and run it to the hot of the bulb not working and now all will work.
Hi David, first check your fuses some have seperate fuses for running lights and headlights, next make sure bulb connections are clean and connecting also check all parking and break lights if 1 is out in rear sometimes they wont work also is your switch on dash or steering colum, either way your coulkd have a faulty switch, HOPe this helps
check the contacts on the bulb make sure the wire is hooked up and check for croded wire check your fuse in your fuse box and make sure it is hooked up try un hooking it then rehooking it
CHECK FOR POWER AND GROUND AT THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE AFFECTED BRAKE LIGHT. IF THAT CHECK OUT GOOD THEN CHECK THE BULB CONNECTION FOR BURNED CONNECTORS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. LOOPING A TEST LIGHT FROM THE POWER TO THE GROUND CONNECTION AND HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN IT SHOULD LIGHT. IF IT DON'T THE CIRCUIT BOARD IS BAD.
Almost always, your described concern indicates a loose ground particularly on the driver side. What is required is to check the connectors leading to the driver rear side and/or a ground wire. Often, the problem would be the ground terminal is loose or corroded leading to the body of the vehicle. A temporary workaround is to determine which is the ground in the bulb socket (always the body) and wire a jumper wire to any exposed metal part of the rear end.
