I have a 1989 v6 camry engine running on 5 cylinders. As i accelerate under load it is very prominant. Plugs are good, compression is good, leads good, dissy cap good, rotor button good except for a slight crack in the top bakerlight, pulled all the plug leads off to determine which cylinder was not firing. During the cylinder diagnostics, noticed that 5 cylinders had a strong blue spark and 1 a weak white spark which was the cylinder missfiring. put all the plug leads back on now 2 cylinders have a weak white spark and are not firing.
I am leaning towards the coil being on its way out?
No your problem is definately the dizzie cap, as i found out to my cost on a lansia beta. any kind of crack in ur dizzie will cause probs. best way to find out is park your car in the dark open bonnet with engine running then get a mist spray with water in it spray at dizzie and you will see a slight yellow arc around the crack! any crack in bakelite distributors leads to loss of one or more banks
no i would first get a water mist sprayer then park up in the dark and spray the mist @ the bakelite and dizzie and you should see a dull yellow spark[arc even] where it comes from and my bet is the dizzie and the crack if this doesnt work nothing will! but it has saved me a few quid in the past. your coil is fine your car run doesnt it? if it was coil failure the car woulnt run at all.
