Sorry but there is no valve adjustment with hydraulic lifters - can turn the lifter upside down fill with oil - let sit for a while and then tap on the lifters to see if they make noise - if noisy replace.  Camshaft may be worn on the lobes or may have jumped timing if belt.

Hydraulic lifters have no valve lash adjustments if u have a tick do an oil change with a flush possible sludge build up if still noisy and want the get hands a little dirty after 30 pop valve cover and check rockers and push rods rare that would need to be tightened also other problems can be valve carbon or plug fouling good luck

You can adjust the lifters on a 2.2, but first i would go to your GM dealer and get a bottle of E.O.S. this works very well at unsticking lifters;

I would like to set the tappets sound like a diesel motor

Depending on the engine will determine if you can "adjust the tappets". Older cars had solid lifters so they had to be adjusted. Newer cars have hydraulic lifters and need no adjusting.

If your tappets sound like a "diesel motor" it may be they are not getting oil - or the center of the tube that provides oil to the tappets are blocked.

Need to remove the valve cover and run the engine just long enough to see if oil is coming out of the lifter. If when you remove the valve cover and the lifters look dry then you have a "lubricating problem" and you need to get it taken care of immediately.

Constant knocking on or off the accelerator I thought it was the rods then was told lifters don't know where the lifters are so i can look at them

Lifters would tick or rattle. A knock is usually lower in the engine, a rod or piston in most cases. The lifters are under the valve covers.

Valve settings on a 1992 dodge dakota v6 engine

You should have hydraulic lifters, unless someone changed them along the way. Normally nobody puts solid lifters in a vehicle that is a driven on the street daily. That being said, the normal adjustment for hydraulic lifters is normally take all clearance out of rocker arm to lifter plus an extra 1/2 to 3/4 turn. I used to do this with the motor running, I would adjust it tighter till it quits rattling and then tighten an extra 1/2 turn. If the lifters are bad, however, the rattling will never go away. I hope this helps.

How do i adjust valves on a 4.3 vortec tbi motor

The 4.3 liter vortex uses a hydraulic lifter. There is no valve adjustment. If you hear a lifter tick than there is either a bad lifter or something broken in the valve train. Something yo can try for a sticky lifter is add 1/2 a can of seafoam motor tune the oil. Start the engine and let it run until the noise goes away. Then change the oil. If the noise doesn't go away than you have bigger issues. I have yet for the seafoam to not fix a sticky lifter especial in the 4.3 liter which we see quite often.

I need the engine valve spec for a 1984 chevy 6.2 diesel. We are adjusting the valves.

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS All gasoline and diesel engines in this guide use hydraulic valve lifters, which require no periodic maintenance or adjustment. However, in the event of cylinder head removal or any operation that requires disturbing or removing the rocker arms, the rocker arms must be adjusted in order to position the pushrods to allow the hydraulic lifters to maintain zero lash. Refer to the valve lash adjustment procedure under Rocker Arms, earlier in this Section.

Do the valves need periodic adjustments in a 1999 Chevy suburban and how many valves per cylinder

The valves never need adjusted, .Do to hydraulic lifters and zero clearance.The rocker arms are torqued to 35 ftlbs.So you never have to worry about it.If there is a noise have your lifters checked:)
