The fuel pump is electric and it is located inside the gas tank, the gas tank must be removed from the car to replace the pump, also replace the fuel filter while you are under the car.

according to the factory manual the fuel pump rarely goes bad. the throttle body clogs, which causes slow starts, hesitation, stumbles and stalls. look up MOTORVAC on the intrenet
The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. On these GM cars, the fuel tank must be dropped in order to change the pump. It is alos recomended that the fuel filter be changed at the same time which is on the frame of the vehicle, left side. the pump at autozone runs about $75 and don't forget the strainer for about $10. The filter runs about$10 also.
The fuel filter should be on the frame rail on the right side below the passengers door area.Just follow the fuel lines from the motor or the fuel tank.
if your filen it up then it gets that low and does that its probley vapor lockin try and losen the gas cap and see if it stops and if so go bye a vented gas cape and the prob will be gone.
