SOURCE: my Lexus rx 300 won;t engage gears after spilling

The oil pump in the trans most likely blew. You will need a shop to look at this.

SOURCE: can't find where transmission fluid goes in 1999 Lexus RX 300

there is no cap, to add transmission fluid you must pour it through the dipstick pipe. Transmission fluid should not decrease in leavel unless you have a leak. I would have it checked if you are losing trans fluid!!

1999 Lexus rx300 after dropping transmission pan will I run into problems with something falling out

No, nothing will drop down into the pan when it is removed. The only precaution that you will need to prepare for is the transmission fluid. Supporting the pan and directing the fluid can be messy. Wear safety glasses, lay down cardboard, have plenty of rags on hand and a large drain pan.

Am looking to buy a '99 through '01 Lexus Rx 300, and was told by a broker that so many have transmission failures at 50k-100k that he doesn't sell them any longer. This seems contrary to my research, so...

well from doing a quick search i see the dealer was right. Read here for 1999 there are lots of people that say transmission failure. the RX 300 was built with a camry transmission that could not handle the torque. They used the same transmission till mid 2000 and most 2001's seem to have a transaxle defect. Also these years have reports of significant problems with the engine. Your best bet is to look into a different generation of the RX. Here are more reviews covering 1999-2003 with the same problem. Click here to see collected reviews. If i were you save yourself the headache and the money in your pocket with the repair bills. Unless that is you like to repair your own vehicle and not drive it for days at a time every few years. Then its the car for you. Wasnt till i saw this problem that i thought about how when i worked in a Auto repair shop how many of these rx 300's we worked on. If you need further assistance or would like more reviews please let me know and i will be glad to assist you further. Thanks, Midwest-tek

Washer fluid wont come out in the lexus rx 300

Assuming there is fluid in the washer reservoir, check the hose lines. Does the fluid spray anywhere?? If not, have the pump motor checked. Hope this is helpful.

Transmission!

Transmission problems in the RX300 are common for those who never flush the transmission fluid. I would strongly urge you to quit driving your RX300 and get it to a dealership where they can flush the transmission fluid. There is no transmission fluid filter (per say) but there is a "screen" inside the transmission that needs to be flushed out (this serves as the filter). Pull out your dipstick for the transmission and smell the transmission fluid - does it smell burned? I hope not, but regardless, take it to a dealership and get the tranny flushed and see if that makes a difference. Also, continue to flush the transmission every 60,000 miles at most! Lexus says that you do not need to flush the transmission, but I think you do. I have a 2001 Lexus RX300 and I have had no problems with the tranny and I've flushed it at 60,000 miles and then again at 115,000 miles. I now have just a little over 120,000 on it. It's a good running vehicle but you need to care for it!
