ase mechanic here, sounds like the starter is on its way out, will have to replace since you cleaned all the connections, but in the mean time try hitting the solenoid portion with some object and see if the engine starts. if so the starter needs replacing.

Do yourself a favor & get it scanned at transmission shop, or dealer & fixed as needed,(within reason) . Delaying it could cost lots of money. A rebuilt is about $1500-$2000.

Are you sure the battery is not dead? It's possible for ignitions to become locked when the battery is very dead and not simply near-dead.
Try testing by attempting to turn on your head lights.
Try jumping the battery if this is the case. You will most likely need to get a new battery, but this should work for the time being.
