My 95 XJ6 does not have the allen screw, all you need to do is get a good grip and turn it loose.

There should be a small allen screw acting as a keeper and set screw at the base of the knob. Once the allen screw is backed out, watch you don't lose it, the knob should just un screw. Depending on the knob you are going to replace it with, you may need the same allen screw or one may be provided to act in the same way.

you will have to go to the dealer, or wrecking yard and obtain a new shift knob. if you look in the front of the handle you will see a small metal piece that can be pried out with a small flat head screw driver and it will slide, reverse procedure to install

My 1995 jaguar starts but i cant get the shift to work

with the ignition on press the brake can you her aclick from the gear lever area i suspect not the lever is more than likely stuck in park the soleniod that releases the gear lever
is not being powered the most likely cause is the brake light switch on the brake pedal you can get it out of park by removing the little plug near the gear lever and pushing something like your key in to the hole to manually release the gear lever there is also a relay under the j gate that may be faulty/dislodged or the release soleniod itself faulty

Cant start my 1995 xj6 after installing new battery

Your car has lost some kind of security system programming. You need the dealer to look into this and do whatever programming is required.

Adjustment nuetral park switch for 95 jaguar xj6

The switch is mounted on the side of the shift lever assembly. You must remove the centre part of the center console. The switch is on the side of the assembly and has 2 screws to allow adjustment, slacken the screws, put the transmission in neutral and move the switch a fraction at a time and try to start the car, when you can, then this is ok, also check that the lamps are working correctly when you move the shift lever, that they illuminate in the right position, tighten the switch and put everything back.

Glove Box

yes - behind the gear shift, in between the two front seats - where the driver would place his/her right arm while he/she is driving. I beleive that is the only "glove box" that the car has. That is all that my 1995 jag XJ6 has anyway. :-)

Removal of gear shift knob

There are two types of shift knobs. One that unscrews and one that the lower trim of the shift knob separates from the knob using a trim stick. After separating the lower trim from the knob pull upward to release the knob from the shift lever. If a new shifter assembly is being installed, unscrew the original shift knob or separate the lower trim from the knob and pull up to remove the knob from the shift lever. Screw the knob onto the new shifter assembly's lever no more than 14 turns or install the lower trim onto the shift lever then push the knob onto the shift lever and install the lower trim piece onto the shift knob.
