Really you can snug these down with a common ratchet without harm. Make sure on these engines that you are using only the AC Delco spark plugs. If not you can trigger a check engine light with a P0300 random misfire code. If you are concerned about siezing, use a light coat of antisieze on the threads of the spark plugs. The book calls for 11 ft lbs but in my 20 plus yrs, this is not enough and will work loose causing performance issues and possible damage.

Why does my 2001 GMC Yukon XL always cut off when stopping or starting at slow speeds such as in parking lots and at stop sings?

Check your fuel pressure it should be 60-66 psi with key and engine off.If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump and filter.Sounds like you may have a low fuel pressure problem.

I need to know where is the #1 spark plug on a 1998 gmc yukon

V8 engine? That would be drivers side front. Remember that TDC is number one piston up (On the compression stroke, not exhaust stroke), timing marks at zero.

the owners manual will have a list. most of the time when people are going to sell or trade in a vehicle, they do NOTHING maint wise. I would start from scratch and replace ALL FLUIDS, trans service ,fuel filters spark plugs ect.
