Abs warning light means that something is wrong with the abs system.. usually this is the abs sensor which needs to be replaced.. If when driving the car u find the brakes dont work as they used to its cause of this.. the abs sensor determines how fast and hard the brakes need to hold for a smooth stop..
in the fuse panel under the hood ,, locate and remove the abs fuse.. this will disable the abs system.. drive the car and you will see how the brakes hold differently,, (much faster and harder,, its like a manual braking system),, once you replace the abs sensor you will be fine and the light will go off..

SOURCE: the ABS anti lock warning light is on
Could be as simple as low fluid level in the master cylinder. Check that first and then if it is not low or filling it and making a few starts and stops does not kill the light then stop by your local parts store and they will read your codes for free and tell you what the problem is. Free is good, bad brakes is bad, but hopefully it is just the fluid level.
On vehicles equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), a second warning light is provided to warn if a problem occurs within the ABS system. The ABS lamp comes on when the ignition is turned on for a bulb check, then goes out after the engine starts. If the ABS warning light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a fault has occurred in the ABS system.
What happens next depends on the nature of the fault. On most applications, the ABS system disables itself if the ABS warning light comes on and remains on.
