  • Full instrumentation pack (four ancillary guages plus tachometer) - with volt meter & oil pressure guage.
  • Speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, fuel guage & water temperature guage standard in addition to the above.
  • WARNING LIGHTS: High beam, rear window demist on, turn signal / hazard light, alternator fail, lights on, park-brake on, washer fluid low, radiator coolant low, cruise control indicator and low oil pressure.
  • AUDIBLE WARNING CHIMES: low fuel, lights on, low alternator charge, low oil pressure, high coolant temperature and brake failure.
  • Trip Computer standard featuring fuel consumption figures, distance to empty, average speed & time display.
I found this site, no mention of the fan in a cylinder, but I'll let you figure it out. Hope this helps.

1997 ford fairmont light on dash in red looks like a battery with a fan in the middle does anyone know what the problem might be

suspect it may be a light telling you that a cooling fan is not working. Run fault codes to find problem.

My car is a ford fairmont 1988 sedan, my Question is when I start up and drive the dashboard light up when I brake do u know why?

Check your wires, and the wire loom. They are contacting somewhere.
Look at the wires going back to the tale lights. they come from the brake light switch and they run together with a whole lot of wires. They may have melted some where.

Head gaskit need replacing.how...

You have either a one-of-a-kind car or you are wrong on the year or model. Fairmont didn't extend beyond 1983.
If you have no experience working on engines, I recommend you buy the Haynes manual for the car:
1978-83 Fairmont

Ford fairmont 1992

first to remove the fan you will need a big spanner 1, 1/4 inch to be precise and a large hammer. with the fan belts still on and tight from the top, place the spanner on the nut just behind the fan with the spanner pointing straight up. then jar the spanner with the hammer towards the battery,(opposite direction to a normal bolt) once jared loose you should be able to turn the nut off. when refitting just do up firm with spanner

Never heard of a 97 Ford Falcon Fairmont. What model do you actually have. Ford quit making the Falcon and the Fairmont many years ago.

Gearbox Change

HI Joseph

I also have a 4.0L Fairmont but a 1997 model. I had the gearbox overhauled by Armstrong Ford Pietermaritzburg who referred it to Gearmax- no problems since with the box- cost around R14000 in 2006.

ID a Fairmont part?

it sounds like it is a frame support, there should actually be a rubber bushing on the top of the washer, the bushing more than likely dry rotted and fell off.
