Hi! The battery may be weak and faulty resulting to not taking charge from the alternator thats why it stalls when lights are turned on. You will need to replace the battery to correct this. Hope this helps and have a good one!

if the motor oil was out I'm afraid the engine was damaged and some bearings of it make now noise and other problems.

Brake lights on 1989 honda civic went out...what is the problem? brake switch maybe? All fuses are fine

Check the brake light switch above the brake pedal with a volt meter, when the pedal is pushed you should have 12 volts in and out.

When i turn the headlights on in my 89' honda civic hatch back, the idle slows. i tried out a little research and got something about a dashpot but that was on a miata, so uh why would it do that? and...

Firstly, turning on the headlamps applies an electrical load onto the battery and charging system.
The charging system will sense the load and increase it's output to compensate..
This compensation is why the idle RPM drops.
The alternator is driven by the engine so when the alternator has to work harder, the engine has to work harder too..
Loss of break lamps usually means a blown fuse so check all the fuses.
Check the lamp switch too..
You might even find the lamp check relay has developed a fault..
But, I would suspect a fuse or switch before anything else..

On 92 honda civic the battery light stays on. Is

No your alternator is not longer working correctly. It could be as simple as a broken alternator drive belt. Open the hood an see if you see any naked pulleys. If the belt is in place then you most likely with have bad alternator. NAPA and Autozone have stores that can test your old alternator. Con comeone into removing it and have it tested. If it is bad get a REBUILT one. A new one will cost a small fortune!

This code is not documented so the code reader is giving a false reading.
If the car runs OK and check engine light is not on, I would forget about it.
