P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction, it could be a sensor starting to go bad, have the code cleared and see if it happens again, have you ever had your transmission fluid replaced, (do not have it flushed) might want to do that as a Preventive Maintenance item.

A/C problem could be the A/C controls on the dash are not working properly, the doors inside the dash are not closing completely, letting warm blended air in on the driver's side.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the quick response. Sorry, but you left me asking more. Can I reset the code or can only the shop. Also what can i do about the ac door. Can I manually close it? "

You can reset the code yourself if you have a scanner, some vehicles if you disconnect the battery for a hour the code will be erased. You can purchase a basic scanner at AutoZone for about $52, it will do basic code reading and you can also erase the light yourself. You can find more info at www.obd-codes.com it is a very helpful site that will give you a basic understanding about what all these codes mean. I purchased my own scanner becuse with the price shops charge just to hook your vehicle up to a scanner you are better off buying your own, at least it will pay for itself the first time you go to a shop, plus when you go to a shop since you already read the code with your own scanner you can see if the shop is really telling you the truth or not.

As for the A/C you might be able to close the door yourself but you will have to take part of your lower dash apart. Go to a A/C shop and talk to them to try to get some specialized solutions to that problem.

Just bought a 2001 T/C Limited in early july 2011 with 88,000 miles and after 3000 miles it has the exact same two problems. Makes you wonder doesn't it !

I just changed the fluid in my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. After changing the transmission started not going into drive, and then jerking when down shifting at about 25 mph. I changed both speed sensors. The transmission acted the same for about 30 miles then suddenly stopped both problems. Amazing!

My Chrysler Town and Country 2001 is in limp mode.

you cant get rid of the issue until you find the cause and fix it. i would not recommend throwing any more parts at it, get someone with a scan tool and see what codes are there before you waste any more money

I have a 2000 chrysier town & country 3.8 it shifts gears sometimes and then it is stuck in one gear can anyone help?

It sounds like you are either low on transmission fluid, or you have a shift solenoid or TCC Solenoid that is failing. Check the transmission fluid level when the engine is warmed up. If the fluid is at the correct level, see if your check engine light is on. If the CEL light is on, you probably have a failed Solenoid Valve. Have the code checked to find out which solenoid is faulty.

have the check engine light read to see what it is. more than likely an internal trans problem. the code should point you in the right direction
