Insert your key in the ignition and turn it on and off. Push the Arm button until you hear it lock. That does the trick for me always. I own a 02 jag myself.
Hie kshep05,i'm having the same problem on my x type which i bought last week. it just started doing that yesterday and i am @ my wits end. Have you had a solution or diagnosis for your problem?
Hi
Try some wd-40 spray this all around the boot lock and on the underside of the bootlid onto the mechanism, sometimes they stick and just need lubeing up. dont be shy with the wd-40 spray all over and into the lock. then try lock and unlock with the key and with the remote fob keep repeating until it free's off. this most often works and wont cost you anything so worth a go.
It's very common in cold weather, Hope this helps
Regards
you may have a bad door switch, theres a switch on the drivers door lock, when door is unlocked with fob or key the switch is activeated to shut alarm down, the lock moves to hit switch with key or fob,so if the switch is bad it will not shut down alarm, i would start there, door panel has to be remove, then latch has to be remove to get to switch, then test with a meter see if it opens and closes the connection, hope this helps.
hi,when you remove the key from the ignition, does the little flap in the barrell flip down?.if not the key fob wont work.it thinks the key is still in the barrell.after a tiny bit of wd40 on the key it was ok.it pickled me head for ages.maybe its that. paul
The switchblade key would need to be compatable with your ignition switch barrel. Only normally available from jag dealers who check the Jag owners register before supplying you a replacement.
The older type seperate fobs could be programmed by switching the ignition on and off 8 times (allowing all functions to settle) and on the 9th switch on - press a button on each fob and then switch off. to test use a good fob to lock the car then try the reprogammed fob to unlock/lock. Sometimes this works first time - sometimes needs a couple of tries.
