What type of coolant does my Stratus need. I lost my manual.

This just started happening or ?t just started getting noticed ? Someone ran it hot ? How's it running ? Temp ? Need more info. Autozone rent a tool (free) - compression tester. Spark plug out, threaded fitting goes in, then hook the gauge and get a reading. Repeat process 3 more times. Cost = $0
First thing I'd do.

A 50/50 mix of high quality coolant and water. I'd recomend prestone or peak. Do not use any coolant that says dex-cool, this is for GM cars and trucks.

A repair manual would be a good idea, However, follow the upper radiator
hose to the engine to locate the thermostat housing. Drain the coolant,
remove the hose, the thermostat housing, make sure you note how the
thermostat is installed before removing it, clean all mating surfaces, install
new thermostat and O ring, reattach all and replace coolant.

The green coolant works fine, just don't mix it with red/orange, it turns brown

Always use green if it has anything else in it drain it and refill with green
all other colors where originally designed to be better than the green but in actually they are worse
they break down sooner, leave deposits and gum up water passages
ask any mechanic that had a motor apart that runs that coolant and he/she will tell you the same

Peak makes a very nice coolant called Global that is amber in color, and fits all vehicles.

You could use something along those lines, or call your local dealer for the proper coolant type.

the answer to this question is better answered in a car parts store,......there are so many different types of fluid,....i believe there is a "dodge" type,......good luck, cracklin joe,.....

Any standard antifreeze coolant will work. If you live in the lower Midwest USA as I do, you can actually mix regular antifreeze 50/50 with water and you run no risk of it freezing. Detailed mixing instructions should be available on most antifreeze containers.

You can get whats called universal anti freeze. This type will fit all makes and models, regardless of what it came out with- no matter what!

The coolant thermostat needs replaced or you need a coolant flush. Heater cores (in the dashboard) often clog and stop warm coolant from circulating into the heater. A coolant flush would cure this. Flushes usually run from 70 to 90 dollars to have done at a service shop.
