Hi I need to locate the vin number on a 1997 kia sportage. I cannot locate it on the chassis

On most passenger cars, you may find the VIN number on the front of the dashboard on the driver's side. The best way to see it is to look through the windshield from outside the car. You may also find the VIN number on the driver's side door pillar.

VIN TAGS ARE ATTACHED TO THE LOWER SIDE OF DASH PAD LEFT SIDE AND VIEWED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE.VIN STICKERS ARE ATTACHED TO DOORS OR DOOR POST.VEHICLES WITH SEPARATE BODY AND FRAME HAVE VIN NUMBERS STAMPED INTO FRAME.

The vin number should be located on the driverside at the bottom of the windshield. Looking from the outside of the car on the driverside you should see it through the windshield. Hope this will help you.
