My prius is chirping the horn seven short times at night for no known reason and the dealer says there is no codes in the system. It continues to do this on a regular basis. I have the Package 5 Touring Edition and the only problem I have had is the battery for starting going low and then needing a jump, but this is quite recent. The chirp issue has been going on for over a year. Any ideas?

SOURCE: 2003 Prius Hybrid System Warning Light

My Toyota Prius hybrid warning light has come on three times in eight years. If I turn the car off for 20 minutes, the hybrid light is off but the check engine light is on. After a while, the check engine light goes off. I think this problem is related to moisture somehow entering the hybrid vent on the driver's side. All three times this has happened, the weather was wet. Kevin Cardiff

Hello,

First, read through the tips on the below link and learn how to deactivate the alarm on your Toyota. This tip was posted by me.

http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6746176-set_cancel_theft_deterrent_system_or

If that doesn't solve the problem, then it means the alarm system is not the cause of the problem. But let me know which ever the case may be so that I can direct you further.

Good luck.

How to stop beep when locking and unlocking camry le 2010

When Horn chirp is enabled, the vehicle horn will chirp on locking and unlocking the vehicle, to enable or disable the horn chirp:

1. Turn headlight switch "OFF"

2. Cycle the ignition switch from "LOCK" to "ON" three times (within 5 seconds) leaving it "ON"

3. The vehicle security indicator will illuminate continuously for 5 seconds

4. During the time the indicator is illuminated, operate the horn(for 1 second). The turn signals will flash once to confirm successful programming.

5. Turn ignition switch to "LOCK" and test system with the remote controls.

To disable horn chirp, repeat the procedure for enabling.

The user manual actually declares customizations of the smartkey must be done by the dealers using special equipment. However, the above procedure works on a variety of years and models. And I see no where in the user manual that refers to the horn and door lock even being a customizable setting.

Horn keeps going off unexpectedly- usually at night

Often times the problem is a weak horn relay or a weak horn pad on the steering wheel. You can remove the horn relay or fuse to prevent the horn from blowing until the problem is fixed.

Horn on 2005 Prius only work with key.

Check the Horn Relay (in fuse box under the hood). You will need to check for Circuit continuity between the Relay and the horn button. There must be a loose connection under the dashboard or in steering column. Pressing the Horn button Grounds the circuit, so check the circuit from the relay to the horn button for continuity to ground.

Tire pressure is correct but tps indicate a low pressure in one tire. service engine light comes on after a long drive and then goes off after a while.

Lets start with the tps light, make sure to check the tire pressure in the spare also as some car makers have a sensor on the spare also, after you sett all the tire pressures the light should go off after a small drive if not then i would reset the tps system,to reset the system you will first need to see if there is a sensor in the spare, the valve stem will be a regular rubber stem, this means no sensor or if it has the metal stem with the nut then it has a sensor but i will say it does not as i looked it up, the first step is to turn ignition on without starting the engine, so turn key until dah lights lite up this will be right before the start mode next push and hold the lock and unlock button on the remote, you will hear the horn chirp this means you are in program mode next you will start at the front left tire start to release air until the horn chrips after the horn chirps move to rt front tire and let air out until you hear the horn chirp you will continue to rt rear and let air out until horn chirp and last is left rear at the left rear the horn will double chirp this meand program is done turn key off. now set all tire to correct pressure and drive, light should go off, make sure to have all valve caps off as it gives you a total of 5 mins to complete the program but once key is off you have plenty of time, during the program mode if you are letting air out and the horn doesnt chirp then that tire has a bad sensor, you will need to let out at least 10lbs for the computer to pick up a change in the sensor, if the tire is flat from letting air out and the horn doesnt chirp then that sensor is bad, hope this helps, have a good day. note make sure you have an air pump or do this at an air pump as you will need to reset tire pressure .

Hello, i have an HID kit and i was wondering if there is a way to disable the headlight flasher that flash when i lock my doors? reason i say is because it puts wear on my HID kit...thanks

Ford F150 Manual (page 137):
Enabling/disabling the perimeter lighting feature
Your vehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. All vehicle doors must be closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1–5 within 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait a minimum of 30 seconds to begin again.
1. Turn the ignition to the on position, then press the power door control three times.
2. Turn the ignition to the off position, then press the power door control three times.
3. Turn the ignition to the on position; the horn will chirp to indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated.
4. Within five seconds, press the power door control two times.

Note: One horn chirp should be heard, indicating the system has been disabled.
Conversely, a horn chirp followed by a honk will indicate the system is enabled. Pressing the power door control two times again will turn the feature on if it was previously off, or off if it was previously on.
Every two consecutive presses of the power door control after successfully entering the configuration mode will change the enable/disable condition of the feature.

5. Turn the ignition to the off position to exit programming.
Note: After exiting the driver configuration mode, the horn will chirp once to indicate a feature has been activated/deactivated.
Good luck and keep me posted if you have any more questions.

I bought a new Keyless remote for a 2007 Forester from a Subaru Dealer to replace an original one that went bad after 2 years. I have followed the directions in the owner's manual to program it, but can't...

IMPREZA: 2005, 2006, 2007 and
FORESTER: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
Check for Immobilizer key on Forester XT models only.

new remote for 2005 Imprezas.
This is not the same remote as the 05 Legacy/Outback remote which also has truck/gate release on the front and a red panic button on the back.
Lock: press Lock button for 2 seconds or so to lock car, and arm optional security system. The car with chirp once and turn signals flash for locked, 5 short chirps and signal flashes if any door is not fully closed. The dome light goes on for 15 seconds and ignition key ring (if present) will light for 30 seconds when unlocked.
Unlock: press unlock one time for driver's door, press again within 5 seconds to unlock all doors inkling rear gate (wagon). The system does not open the trunk.
Panic mode: press and hold lock button for approx. 3-4 seconds to activate Panic mode. I panic model the horn honks and turn signals flash until either the lock or unlock button is pushed again.
Finder mode: Press lock button 3 times within 5 seconds to activate Vehicle Finder mode. The horn will honk once and the turn signals will flash 3 times
Distance: works within approx. 30 feet depending on battery strength, nearby concrete walls and etc.
Audible Chirp On-Off: the system will chirp when locked or unlocked. To turn OFF the chirps, unlock the door and then push both lock and unlock buttons at the exact same time for 2+ seconds. There will be 2 chirps indicating the the audible is off. To turn the chirp back on, repeat the process and the system will chirp one time when it is back on.
Battery: as the battery ages it will only work as you get closer to the car. When a battery is replaced, the transmitter must be re-synchronized with the Keyless control unit. To synchronize, press the lock or unlock button 6 times.
Programming: 4 codes may be programmed.
Sit in driver's seat and unlock all doors. Open and close the driver's door
Turn the ignition key from LOCK to ON position 10 times within 15 seconds. Be sure to stop at both lock and on. The horn will HONK once to indicate transmitter programming mode is activated. Leave key in LOCK position and don't remove it from ignition.
You now have 45 seconds to complete the programming as below.
Open and close driver's door again.
Push either lock or unlock button on the remote you want to program. The horn will honk 2 times when successful.
To continue and program other remotes at the same time: open and close the driver's door and push lock or unlock on the remote. The driver's door must be opened and closed between each remote you want to program.
Done programming? remove the key from the ignition and the horn will honk 3 times.
DELETE old codes? Reprogram 4 times, it will overwrite old codes.
Alarm Security System: optional on all models. When locked there is one chirp (can be turned off, see above), the turn signals will flash and the red 'security' light will start to flash once every 2 seconds except for STi which flashes twice every 2 seconds.
There will be 5 chirps if a door, hood, and trunk or gate is not fully closed
You can also arm the system by using the power lock button on the driver or passenger door as you get out of the car and then closing the door behind you.
Disarm the system: push unlock for 2 seconds
Lost remote, alarm activated? When you can't use a remote to turn off the system: open the door with a key or try to start the car and the horn will start to honk. Turn the key on-off 3 times within 5 seconds and the alarm will go off and you can start the car. It's simple!
VALET mode: To set valet mode or just to disable the security alarm system: 1. unlock all doors 2. physically open the driver's door 3. hold the UNLOCK button on remote for 2+ seconds. The red 'security' light will then flash 2 times a second until the car is turned on.
System has been Tripped (except for STi): if you unlock the door with the remote and it chirps the signal light flash 4 times, the system has been triggered;
Identification mode: To find out what happened and why the system was triggered:
Open and drivers door, leave it open. Turn ignition key from LOCK to ON 2 times and then leave in LOCK position.
Tripped code: 1 security light flash: a door has been opened, 3 flashes when the impact sensor was triggered, 4 flashes when the ignition was messed with or battery disconnected

Toyota Prius starting problem

There's a known problem with the early Toyota Prius (2001 - 2003), when running the engine for a long period of time without moving or when the car is driven only for short trips (short city driving), the Prius might not start.

You have to change the original battery with a 356 CCA which is bigger because the battery is bigger you also have to change what is holding it into place.
