I have a 1991 GMC C1500 5.7L 350. oil pressure switch

I have a 1991 GMC C1500 5.7L 350. I am trying to replace the oil pressure switch and am finding it hard to remove the old switch to replace it. The trouble is there is not enough room to get any tools around the old switch to loosen and remove it. Was wondering if there are any tricks of the trade to getting it off.

thanks for any help

You might try a sending unit socket, or try to break off the upper plastic part of the sensor, to try to get a socket on it. I've had luck with a pair of Channel Lock pliers.

Hello! Let's make certain we are talking about the same item...You are changing the oil pressure sender; Correct? It has a single wire (Gray in color) and is located near the distributor; It is a lot easier to remove if you pull the distributor...Don't forget to mark the position of the rotor...

If this vehicle has high miles, the camshaft timing gear nylon teeth may be breaking off and going into the lower part of the oil pan, blocking off the oil pickup tube screen. Oil starvation.
